In tonight’s The Equalizer episode, Robin sits with Viola and her daughter at morning breakfast. Her daughter asks her if she has considered her question from the other day – she wants her mom to train her. Robin tells her they can talk more later but when she was younger she was forced to grow up way too fast.
Robin meets with a woman who needs her help. She thinks her dead husband is trying to kill her. She knows this sounds crazy but someone is terrorizing her in her home. The police won’t help. They reported her to DCF instead. Robin takes the case and tells Mel and Harry she is taking the case. Robin knows how it feels to be a scared mom who people doubt. Harry researches the husband’s death. He really is gone, so who is terrorizing her?
Viola’s girlfriend comes over. De comes home early. Viola’s girlfriend Trish makes up an excuse to leave but Viola thinks it is time she meets her family. Meanwhile, Robin and Mel visit the mother. The woman tells them someone was in her cellar. They head to look and find footsteps and some ash. Her late husband died in a fire.
Robin and Mel meet the woman’s daughter. The scared mom Evelyn shares that she did end things with her nanny and was not on good terms. She also shares that her late husband was a good dad. Robin notices a nosy neighbor and goes to talk to her. The neighbor has noticed some strange cars and even wrote down the plate numbers.
Harry and Mel meet with the nanny who is very unpleasant while Robin catches Evelyn’s brother-in-law breaking into her house. Robin takes him down after he tries to attack her while he attempts to escape. He tells Robin that he took back a ring that belonged to him and how Evelyn killed his brother. She set the fire that killed him. Harry checks her bank accounts and it appears she did get a payout from insurance.
Harry and Mel wonder if Evelyn is innocent. Just then, Evelyn’s sister calls. They were supposed to meet and Evelyn didn’t show. Robin finds her passed out at her house. DCF then shows up. Robin talks the DCF representative into giving Evelyn a break. She then sends Harry and photo of the pills Evelyn told Robin she took for anxiety. They don’t look like anxiety pills. Meanwhile, Harry and Mel discover Evelyn’s husband is still alive.
At the police station, Richard admits he faked his death for money and then couldn’t stay away from his house. He missed his family so he would visit when Evelyn was sleeping. They still don’t know who would call DCF. They figure out that Evelyn’s sister might be behind the whole thing to get custody of her niece. They rush to Evelyn’s because they know her sister is there and she might be in danger.
Evelyn is on the ground and bleeding when they arrive. Evelyn’s daughter and sister are gone. They find pictures of Evelyn’s sister putting her face on next to Richard’s. She is in love with Richard. They have Richard call her and set up a meeting. Robin shows up and manages to get the daughter away from her safely. The sister used to date Richard and always believed they belonged together. Evelyn’s sister tries to attack her but of course, Robin takes her down and brings the little girl back to see her mom.
Harry meets up with Mel. He apologizes to her for not taking her on a proper date. Harry surprises her with a private concert of him performing her favorite band’s songs. Meanwhile, Robin arrives home to talk to Viola. Viola talks to Robin about their day and Trish. Viola had snapped a little at Dee after Trish left after she asked too many questions about Viola’s past as an artist. She admits she felt vulnerable back then and not good enough. She apologizes to her and then shows off her art piece. They love it. Robin and De tell her not to compare herself to others ever.
