In tonight’s The Equalizer episode, the CIA captured someone overseas. The man they captured was Ezra Ryback. He was a notorious smuggler and the CIA needed help to transfer him to a safe location. Carter Griffiths reached out to Robin McCall for said help. But it wasn’t his idea. He didn’t do it because they were friends. He did it because he was ordered to bring her in on the case. She still owed the CIA a few favors and they wanted to collect. She wasn’t the only one they reached out for this case. She was supposed to get Ryback to a second location where he could be properly questioned by a legendary CIA officer. A guy is known as the SpyHunter.

Neither Robin nor Carter has ever met the SpyHunter. They just knew the name. He was Colton Fisk. Carter and his team and Rob were supposed to deliver Ryback to Fisk. But there were some problems along the way. For one, Ryback was dangerous. He kept offering to bribe any CIA officer willing to break him out of custody. He also told them how dumb they were by taking the regular streets. Ryback claimed he had enemies. He said he was on the run from the Brigada-7 cartel. He claimed this cartel has eyes all over the city. They were even involved with the CIA. And that he didn’t trust anyone besides the one CIA officer he knew and respected – Bishop.

Ryback asked why Bishop wasn’t part of his interrogation team. He said Bishop would have come if he knew he was involved and so then Ryback correctly guessed that Bishop was dead. He said that would be the only reason why he hadn’t seen Bishop since his capture. Ryback was then trying to get under Robin’s skin by asking some questions about how Bishop died, but what stopped him from talking was that they reached one of their stops. The transport team was supposed to switch to a new vehicle several times on their journey to the safe location. However, they were betrayed. They stopped long enough to make a switch and they got shot at and Ryback went missing in the confusion.

Robin and Carter went looking for Ryback. They soon found him hiding in a parked car. He was grazed by a bullet during the earlier gun battle. He wasn’t in danger from it and so they quickly looked for ways to get back on the road. But first, they had to contend with being compromised. Ryback had claimed that the cartel had someone in the CIA. Carter also mentioned that his team has been compromised several times in the past. Both Carter and Robin believed that the Brigada-7 cartel had in fact infiltrated the CIA and that they were in danger. It was just the four officers guarding Ryback. There was Robin, Carter, a female officer by the name of Shaw, and a male officer named Sanford.

The officers went on the run with Ryback. They went to a warehouse. Robin was actually running late to a family dinner with her family and friends. It was the first time that her daughter and aunt were getting to meet Harry and have dinner with Mel. But Robin couldn’t afford to waste any time by making her excuses. She had to save Ryback’s life. She’s dealt with this particular cartel before. She knew that they were dangerous and that their hit squads could rival the best in the CIA. She also knew that there was in fact a mole in their little group or else how did the cartel manage to track them back to that warehouse? The warehouse was a secret known only to Robin before then.

But somehow they were tracked there. The hit squad killed both Sanford and Shaw before Robin took them all out. Robin then pulled her gun on the last two standing. She knew one of them had betrayed her. She asked to see their arms. She saw Ryback’s arms and she saw that they were clean. She saw Carter’s arms and she saw that there was a tracker in there. Carter admitted to being the mole. He said he got addicted to drugs after being injured on the job. It got so bad that he killed an undercover cop posing as a drug dealer. And he’s been hiding that by offering up CIA’s secrets to anyone willing to pay.

Its how Quinn knew how to find her. It’s how Quinn’s man died in CIA’s custody. Carter put them all at risk to cover up his own dirty secret and Robin shot him four times before the CIA backup finally arrived. They arrived. They took Ryback into custody. Robin was allowed to return home and she made a pit stop before she did. She stopped by Detective Dante’s. Dante had recently heard that his father was getting out of prison. His father didn’t need cash or a place to stay. He just wanted to meet his grandchildren. Dante cleared it past his ex-wife. He even cleared it with his mother. It was just him that was unsure whether he wanted his boys to meet his dad. And so Robin helped him make a choice that would fit him.

Dante also used his settlement money to pay off the mortgage of his boxing gym as well as buy a new house for himself.

Robin meanwhile ran into Ryback again and this time she called him by his correct name. She called him Fisk. Ryback was the SpyHunter all along. He posed as a prisoner to draw out the cartel’s hitman and to catch a dirty CIA officer. Some people had to die for him to find this person, but Fisk was fine with that risk. He later told Robin that everyone on that team had been guilty of something. Shaw and Sanford were bad actors who sold their services overseas. Robin was also guilty. She was the reason Bishop died and that’s why Fisk wanted to test her. He told her as much. Fisk only knew Robin was on the right side when she didn’t kill Carter in spite of the opportunity.

And Robin couldn’t even get upset because the SpyHunter did his job.

THE END!
