Tonights The Equalizer episode begins back in 2020, we see a woman and her son walking through fields. The woman hears police and flasg them down, she tells them that she is seeking asylum and they tell her she is crossing illegally and it is criminal trespassing. They take the boy and arrest the woman.
Melody goes to see Harry in prison, he is happy she is out and tells her to concentrate on herself, forget about him. Meanwhile, Bishop calls McCall and tells her that he is running into walls trying to get Harry released, getting Mel cleared was one thing, this is a whole new level. He spilled secrets, even the CIA can’t help, faking his death made it worse. McCall says they got to make this right, Bishop is on his way to the Pentagon, he has a card he wants to play and this is the last one. Mel comes out of the prison, she tells McCall that Harry wants them to keep going, stop obsessing.
Alma Castillo, Pedro’s mother, meets with McCall and Mel, she tells them about one year ago when her son was taken from her arms when she was seeking asylum and she hasn’t seen him since, he is seven years old. She left her country to protect her child, when her husband refused to pay more taxes, they killed him. Her son was sent to NY, an emergency shelter, she hasn’t heard from him – he is out there waiting for her and she tells them he must be scared.
McCall heads to the shelter and shows a photo of Pedro, after a little pushing, she gets a file. McCall sees that Pedro signed a document waiving his rights in English, he was six at the time – she is furious. Pedro was moved to a shelter after a week there. McCall heads there and the place is vacant, she asks Marcus to find out who owns the place. The owner of the place is Rodrigo Perez, he owns a gym as well. He immigrated from Mexico as a teen as part of a gang. Marcus’ guess is that the gym he owns is a front for something else. McCall tells Marcus that she is going to work solo on this one, she thinks Perez could be trafficking these kids.
Mel watches a video that Harry made in case something happened to him, he tells her that on the drive is everything that she will need to keep going – where all the money is, his will. He tells her that she can do this, she is incredible and he probably didn’t say it enough. One last thing, don’t accept any cookies.
McCall goes to see Perez, she roughs him up. Perez says he is no longer in a gang, he left Mexico because of that. He owns the house, he gave it to a charity to use to help those kids because he knows how it feels. Word spread on the street that there were illegals in the house and someone tried to set the house on fire. All the kids were transferred. He remembers Pedro and says he was transferred to a group home.
McCall calls Alma and asks her about the group home, she says that she doesn’t know it. When McCall arrives there, Alma is already there and arguing with a lady who runs the place. Pedro was there, but he is no longer in their care and they had computer issues, he is not in the system. The lady thinks that maybe Ice deported him. Nate, who works there, takes Alma’s number and says he will try to find some information on Pedro for her. Once they leave, Nate makes a call and tells someone they were there, he says he knows it is bad, but he will take care of it.
Bishop goes to see Mel, he says he has done everything he could think of but he can’t get Harry out. The only way, is if he went back to military intelligence, that would be his last shot. Otherwise, he can’t help him and he is sorry.
Alma gets a call from Nate, he says he found Pedro, he could take her to him, but he would lose his job – she can’t tell anyone, not even her friend that was with her. Alma goes to meet Nate alone, he pulls a gun on her and tells her to walk towards a car. Mel is there, she kicks the gun out of Nate’s hand and demands to know where Pedro is. He gives the address, Mel tells him that he is going to take them to him. All of a sudden a gun goes off, someone shoots Nate dead. McCall and Marcus show up, this is obviously bigger than a missing kid. McCall and Alma head to the address that Nate gave before he was shot, a man a woman who own the phone say that they adopted Pedro, paid ten thousand dollars for him. McCall tells them to bring Pedro out or she will call Social Services. The boy comes down the stairs and he is not Pedro. It turns out that the boy pretended to be Pedro because he wanted a home and Pedro didn’t, he wanted to wait for his mother.
McCall calls the boy who pretended to be Pedro, she asks him who walked him out that day when he left the group home and he says a man in a black uniform. McCall realizes that an Ice officer must have walked him out and there was one at the group home, Agent Ike Deleo, he must have been Nate’s partner. They look into Ike and find that he made multiple visits to a garment factory, meanwhile Mel gets a call from Harry’s lawyer, they are sending him to Leavenworth and if she wants to see him and she has to leave now. McCall calls Bishop, leaves him a message that they ar.e shipping Harry out and she hopes he has something up his sleeve.
McCall heads to the garment factory on her own, once there, Ike is there and he pulls a gun on her. She demands to know where Pedro is, to do the right thing. There is another guy there and he tries to take McCall’s gun, but this gives her the chance to fight back. She knocks the two guys out and finds a little boy who leads her to a room where there are several children, one of them is Pedro.
Pedro is reunited with his mother Alma, he tells her that he knew she would come for him. Mel runs in, she tells McCall that they are releasing Harry, he is coming home, and she doesn’t know why. Mel goes to the prison, she is there when Harry is released. Bishop made the call to the president, his one and only get out of jail free card. Bishop tells McCall that Harry can’t touch a computer ever again, he even checks his bank online he is back in Leavenworth.
