Tonight’s episode begins with Audrey getting into her car, she puts her wheelchair in first and a man wants to help her, but she says no, she can do it.
Lea brings gifts for Shaun and Alex, they are fun answer buzzers.
Audrey makes it into the hospital and everyone is there to cheer her on when she comes out of the elevator. Jordan whispers to Asher that Shaun is the reason she is in the wheelchair and he says that is not correct. Audrey thanks everyone for the flowers, and the food, and she thanks Shaun, she tells him that he saved her life. He says she is welcome.
Shaun introduces himself to four residents as an attending and tells two people they will be him. Morgan walks in and takes the other two just when Alex was going to do it. Shaun explains they used to be in a relationship and it ended badly.
The first patient is being interviewed by Jordan and he is very grumpy, his name is Jeremiah. Morgan tells him that he may need surgery to remove the mass. Daniel, who is with them says nothing.
Shaun and Asher are with another patient who needs a heart transplant, they have a resident with them and her name is Danica. His wife, Dr. Hall, doesn’t want Danica since it is her first day.
Audrey is with Marcus who says he will do everything he can to help her return, but not surgery. She says she can do all duties of a chief surgeon. He says he wants to tag team her.
Shaun and Asher are in surgery, it’s a heat transplant and the replacement heart is damaged. Shaun says to abort the surgery, they need to find a better heart.
Dr. Hall is furious that a decision was made to abort the transplant without speaking to her. Shaun reminds her that she is not a doctor in their hospital.
Audrey is in surgery, and Marcus is with her. Audrey is in an apparatus to put her in a standing position and she is not having an easy time with it. Marcus can see her struggling. She says she is not ok and asks him to take over.
Marcus talks to Audrey after the surgery, she says she is not giving up, she is just impatient. She tells Marcus he should be pissed off with her and not give her a pep talk.
Shaun goes to see Marcus and asks if he could fire an attending, he says yes and he will have to make the tough decision on his own.
Audrey is in physiology therapy, Aaron tells her to lower the table if she is having a hard time. She is the chief, and the rest of the staff can synch with her.
Shaun walks into Aaron’s office, he asks if he should fire his resident for refusing to do surgery on his open heart patient for moral reasons. Aaron tells him to take a day to think about it. Lea is there as well and she says to fire her.
Asher is talking to Danica about the heart surgery, the reason she is against it is that they are thinking of using a pig’s heart. Shaun walks in, he wants to talk to Danica but the pig’s heart is there.
A live pig is actually delivered, not a heart, and the pig’s name is Wilbur. Shaun takes Wilbur’s leash and walks him into the hospital.
Shaun tells Audrey that he is firing Danica because she thinks using animal parts is inhuman.
Shaun meets with Danica and tells her that her attitude is just cause for termination. His job is to mentor her, so he wants her to watch the surgery, even if she thinks it is immoral. She agrees and he doesn’t fire her.
Wilbur is in the operating room, they are about to do the surgery. Shaun says it is harder than he thought it would be as he looks down at Wilbur’s face. Just then, someone runs not the ER, they have a heart, Wilbur is getting closed up, he didn’t have to donate his heart after all.
Jordan matches her patient Jeremiah, up with Wilbur and it is a match made in heaven, Wilbur has a new parent.
Audrey tells Aaron that she feels like a racehorse in a carousel. He says after brain cancer he never returned to the doctor he was and neither will she, but she doesn’t know the doctor she will become.
Marcus calls in Morgan and Alex, he says he heard they are sniping at each other and he doesn’t want to hear it again.
Audrey arrives in the parking lot and is having trouble getting her wheelchair out the same man is there and offers help. She doesn’t want it, but then she loses it and says she hates Shaun, this is all his fault.
