Tonight on FOX their new medical drama The Resident airs with an all-new Tuesday, May 10, 2022, episode and we have your The Resident recap below. In tonight’s The Resident season 5 episode 22, “The Proof Is in The Pudding” as per the FOX synopsis, “When a young boy comes into the hospital with a rare disease which leaves his bones incredibly fragile, Cade’s father, Ian (guest star Andrew McCarthy), scrubs in to assist in the surgery, leaving Cade all on her own in her recovery.
With his clinical trial officially being declared a success, Devon has some huge decisions to make about the future of his career. Meanwhile, Billie struggles with some new feelings.”

Tonight’s episode begins with Ian walking through to his daughter’s room, and Conrad is examining her. She says she knows they caught the man that tried to kill her, but she doesn’t want to leave. Conrad tells Cade that he wants her to walk around with a walker and get out of the room.
Marco Anza, a 14-year-old boy comes into the emergency, Irving is examining him Marco fell off a bike and he is not supposed to be on a bike. They are losing him, AJ comes into the room and does chest compressions.
Devon is examining Albert, who just got back to work, he is a teacher. Devon shows him a picture of his lungs, the tumors were gone, he entered their clinical trial and it worked. Devon says the trial was brutal but it worked. Devon tells him to call Grace and give her the good news.
Randolph tells Kit that they have four marriages between them, so they should just elope. Devon comes in, Kit asks him if he is being courted by other hospitals, and he says yes. She tells him that they will match any offer. Devon says there are issues here, it is nothing personal if he decides to leave, then he congratulates them on their engagement. Randolph feels for Devon, his career is accelerating like a Ferarri and there is nobody in the passenger seat.
AJ is looking at Marco’s x-ray and they are not good. They have to operate because otherwise he could go into a lethal rhythm again and die. Billie agrees. They go and tell his mother, but she doesn’t want to do it, but Marco does, he wants a life. Marco tells her that he loves her, but being safe isn’t enough anymore. He has done a bunch of research and he wants to get better, he wants to go to college. His mother says it is a big decision, she needs to think about it. AJ says he is a brave young man.
Conrad tells Devon that he has a job interview, and he says yes, they are flying him, business class. Conrad tells him not to break up the team, he can work things out, she is worth it and all his friends and colleagues are there.
Ian goes in to see Cade, he promised her that walk, but when he sees Kit in the hallway he says he just wants to say hi and Cade is left alone. She tries to get out of bed and hits the floor, there is blood all around her head.
Marco’s mother tells AJ and Billie that they have decided not to do the surgery. AJ is surprised since Marco seemed to be all in. She says that she is his mother and she makes the decisions. She tells them that if something happens, they go home, but her little boy will be gone and she will not be without him. When she walks away, Billie says it is all about control and there is nothing they can do.
Conrad is at the nurse’s desk, he then goes in to see Cade she is on the floor and there is blood everywhere, her father never came back to be with her. Conrad stitches her back up, she talks to him a little about her dad and she says she is kind of used to his not being there for her, but he did give blood, so he did his part.
Devon is on his tour and he is really impressed, they want him, but he won’t give an answer right away. They want an answer by the following week.
Marco is getting worse, fluid is backing up from his heart to his lungs. Billie says that they have to operate, and his mother gives in.
Ian is still with Kit, she tells him that the best thing about Chastain is her staff. She gets a message about Marco’s surgery and asks Ian to scrub in if he wants.
Ian sees Conrad who tells him that Cade fell and gives him a lecture, tells him to start acting like her father.
Marco is in surgery, AJ is working on him when Ian gives him some advice. AJ says it is an excellent suggestion, Marco is going into tachycardia. AJ calls for bypass, he needs Ian to help him. Randolph and Kit are watching in and they see how good Ian is. He is tired, she sends him home to rest.
Devon is back at the hospital, Leela is in the office and she asks him how it went. He tells her they offered him a job, and that he would be running a center for diseases. She says that is incredible and asks if he is going to take it. He asks her if he should, but she says she won’t make that decision. He asks her if there is anything left between them. She says it is up to him. He tells her that she decided not to have kids, she didn’t talk to him about it, and she says he is blaming her because he wants to leave.
Ian goes back to see his daughter, he feels bad and she tells him not to, she is over it, it doesn’t bother her, and she understands. He tells her that Kit offered him a job. He says he is considering taking the job so he can be closer to her. She thinks his wife left him, he says no, he left her. Conrad comes in, and Ian says he is leaving.
Billie and AJ talk, she says she had fallen for someone and there are complications. She is afraid he will say yes, and that he will say no, it is all terrifying. He tells her that he is terrified about being a father and Padma is all loosy goosy. He is worried his kid won’t love him. He tells her that Conrad and Gigi will be lucky to have her. She asks if it is that obvious.
Gigi is with Conrad, he tells her that someone needs a hug before they go home. They go into Cade’s room. Billie walks by and sees Gigi on top of Cade’s bed giving her a kiss.
Kit is home, Randolph still doesn’t feel well. She tells him that they can put the wedding party aside, and he tells her that he can’t see. She lays him down on the bed, she tells him that his MAS is flaring up because he is pushing too hard.
Ian is closing his duffel bag when he gets a pain in his stomach and falls to the floor of his hotel room.
