In tonight’s The Rookie: Feds episode, Special Agent Garza was remembering his time down in Panama City, Panama. He was down there because he was looking for a spy. Someone was selling American secrets to the Russians. Garza was part of the team that apprehended a man they believed was said spy. But they never got far in questioning. They were questioning this supposed spy when their safe house was hit and they were attacked.

Garza lost a great friend in the attack. It still makes him sad to think about it and the only reason he was remembering it in the first place because his actions from back then was now being held against him. Garza was arrested. He was arrested by his fellow FBI Agents for espionage and so now everyone thinks he’s the spy.

Everyone other than his team. Garza managed to get a message to Simone before he was arrested. He gave her a clue that he was being framed. Simone and the rest of the team understood that one. They just couldn’t figure out his second one. His second clue was a lot harder to decipher because it was attached to a kid show on the Disney channel. Brendan was the one who figured out the show angle.

They just didn’t know why a show had anything to do with Garza being framed for espionage. Simon, Brendan, Carter, and Laura were also forced to split up as they try to get Garza off the hook. Carter and Simone went into the office. They worked on the case from the inside. They knew that part required polygraph tests and they were still willing to do it.

Even Elena was working the case from the inside. She was tapping into her assistant’s circle and trying to get evidence of what they learned. Which wasn’t much. The bosses were keeping everything closed lip. Elena couldn’t find much, but Simone did. Simone was questioned by Special Agent in Charge Chiles.

Simone accidentally saw her files and she knows that a woman by the name of Camilla Nava was somehow involved. She was also dead. The rest of the team was able to learn Camilla died in a supposed car crash back on the mainland. While the team was looking into that cover-up, Garza was being questioned about the same woman.

Camilla wasn’t just the legate down in Panama with the rest of the team. She was sleeping with Garza and she died in his arms after their safe house was hit. Something the team figured out after they cracked the second clue. The second clue was a clue to open up Garza’s locked storage under his desk. But there were guards everywhere. Simone had to create several diversions long enough for Carter to go into the office and come out with the papers. The papers on Garza’s desk were the file about their time in Panama. There were only a handful of survivors from that attack. And they all thought George was responsible.

Both the CIA Officer and the supposed spy himself were sure that Garza was the one who ratted out their location. There was no other excuse for how they were found so fast. So, that’s what the feds were running with. They even brought in the supposed spy to give evidence against Garza. The spy’s name was George Rice. Rice was willing to admit he was helping the Russians in exchange for a witness protection program and to put most of the blame on Garza for what happened when they were attacked, but Garza was innocent. And once the team ruled out Garza as well as the CIA Officer, and even Rice, there was just one other person to survive that day. His name is Alan Brady.

Brady was up for a hotshot job as Assistant Director at the D.O.D. He decided to frame Garza once Garza was getting too close to uncovering his part in the whole thing. He even roped in Rice by bribery. Rice has evidence against Brady. He wanted money in exchange for keeping silent and so Brady told him he could get more if he managed to frame Garza. Only Rice didn’t want to go back to jail. He cracked with being threatened by that. He helped the team perform a sting in which they caught Brady admitting to bribery and framing Garza. And so Brady was later arrested for his crimes.

Garza’s name was cleared. His team didn’t have to worry about their careers. They also wanted to know why he called Simone when he was in trouble. He claimed that she was at the top of the list because she was a recent call, but Simone pushed him on that when it was just the two of them and he said he needed a torpedo that day.

Garza later went to Camilla’s grave to tell her they got justice for her when he suffered a heart attack right then and there.

THE END!
