In tonight’s The Rookie: Feds episode, A little girl and her dad make holiday cookies. Several men come into the house with guns, wearing masks. Meanwhile, the kids are home for the holidays. Simone and her dad are thrilled to see them. At the office, Brendon and Laura are working. She is surprised to see him. Matt is also working. But his family wants him home. They are then told about a kidnapping of a young woman and her dad. They call Simone in who is angry because it appears her daughter is flunking out.
The team meets at headquarters and watches neighborhood cam footage. They see the men. Across the city, Angela is mad that Wesley was called in to face a prisoner by the name of Novak who promises info for a shorter sentence.
Carter, Simone, and the rest think they have found their husband and daughter but the daughter is missing. The father tells them that the bad guys, he didn’t see their faces, are looking to break out a prisoner. It’s the same prisoner, Novak, who Wesley is facing. The masked men come into their meeting shooting.
Angela shows up to meet Matt, Simone, and the others. She plans to help. Matt tells her to stand down. She can advise only since it’s their hostage situation. They are aware Wesley is in there. Inside, Wesley tries to broker a deal with Novak but he isn’t biting when Wesley mentions tunnels underneath the building they are in.
Matt calls in to speak with Novak. Novak wants to walk free with no trouble. But one of his guys does need a doctor. Matt will send in a medic. They plan to send in one and Simone.
Laura and Brendon talk to the man whose daughter was taken. He watches the video cam from the neighborhood and sees the man taking his daughter and her stuffed animal which has a nanny cam in it. Simone calls to leave a loving message for her family before she enters into the hostage situation. Novak suspects one of them is a medic. He sends out the real medic, leaving Simone.
Simone must act like a medical repeatedly while Novak questions her lack of fear. Novak asks his dying friend if he wants jail or death. He chooses jail. Simone is brought into the other room with the hostages. She gives Wesley a message from Angela.
Laura and Brendon drive around the city trying to get a signal to their missing child’s nanny camera. They finally pick up the signal and see the child blindfolded. They locate the address where she is being held. They call in for backup and send a picture. Meanwhile, Simone talks to one of Novak’s masked men. They try to talk him into getting them out and through the tunnels. They can help him. He agrees. He gives Simone his gun. She heads out to where Novak is with a gun. He and his men point guns at her. Just then, the team comes in and takes Novak away.
Novak tells Matt he still has a man holding the child hostage. If he doesn’t walk free she will be killed. Across the city, Laura and Brendon break into a location with the team. But the girl isn’t there. Matt is forced to let Novak go, for now.
Laura and Brendon find the girl minutes later and get her to safety but Novak is still on the loose. They talk to the young man they made a deal with. He tips them off and they manage to catch Novak a second time.
Brendon finally admits to Laura he is avoiding his friend circles for the holidays because talking about superficial diets and more just seems silly with what they do now as Feds.
Simone heads home and talks to her family. Her daughter admits that she is flunking and that she doesn’t like pre-law at her school. Simone tells her that she will find her calling. The doorbell rings. Simone invited a few people over. Her dad cooked plenty. Together, they all eat, drink, and dance, having a great holiday together.
