Tonights The Rookie episode begins with Nolan and Bailey who are meeting with Wesley about her ex Jason Wyler and how he framed her. Wesley tells her she can take a plea deal, and the department frowns on officers fraternizing with convicted felons. Nolan tells her that they just need to prove her innocence and take Jason down. Next, Nolan and Grey are with Grey, she has to leave regarding a homicide.
Chen is researching Tyler, the boy robbed the liquer store – thankfully the store owner is going to be ok. Chen is in the station, she asks the Sanford to charge Tyler like a minor, it was a gun unloaded, he is 16 and storeowner is fine. Sanford says if Tyler can be CI against his crew he will do something, but otherwise no.
Thorsen’s mother is in the station, Harper meets her and tells him to be nice to her. His mother wants him to be a part of a reality TV show and he wants nothing to do with it.
Nolan and Bailey are surveying her ex-con husband who is her current husband. Nolan gets a call from Randy, Jason listed an address of residence but is never there, that could be violating his parole.
Nolan takes Bailey to visit Oscar in prison, he tells him that he needs his help to get inside Jason’s head to know his next move. Bailey says they were married for a year, he psychologically abused her and now he has framed her. Oscar says they need to demean him to throw him off his game. He probably got the drugs from someone he knew in prison. Oscar thinks Jason is playing the long game, he probably did the same thing to a dozen women before Bailey.
Chen is called to the scene of a dead body, the victim’s name is Becca Price. Lopez shows Chen a photo on Becca’s phone, she knew Chen’s roommate.
Chen is home, she brought Bradford with her. She goes into the bedroom and tells her roommate that her friend Becca was found dead. Tamara says she hasn’t spoken to Becca in months because of being so busy and moving in there.
Thorsen and Harper are on patrol when they see a man robbing a store, they go in pursuit and Harper falls and cuts her arm. Elsewhere, Chen looks into Becca’s social media and she was routinely hooking up with four different guys on TikTok.
Bailey and Nolan go see one of Jason’s girlfriends, she says Jason told her that they might try to get her to turn on him and it won’t work. Bailey and Nolan sit down with her, Bailey tells her what Jason did to her. The woman has Jason’s car in her name and he asked her to buy him a gun. Jason arrives hom and finds both Bailey and Nolan there.
Harper is in emergency, her lab work came back, she is six weeks pregnant. The woman tells him to leave, she says she is sick of his lies. He tries to take the laptop and she won’t let him take anything, she says she paid for everything.
Harper tells Thorsen that she is pregnant, she can’t think about anything – she was told she couldn’t get pregnant and she has only been with James a few months and they never thought this would happen.
Lopez has a man named Martin in the station, she asks him if he knows Becca, he says yes, they are friends. He tells her that Becca is homeless, unstable and probably on drugs somewhere. He admits that Becca was there last night, she was looking for a place to sleep and a shower but his girlfriend was coming home, he gave Becca $20 and sent her away. Martin says that Becca stole his very expensive watch. Elsewhere, the police broke into Jason’s computer and found a money laundering scam, if he tries to move any money the will be able to track it.
Harper tells James that she is pregnant, Thorsen interrupts them, his mother sent a 911 text and she is not answering her phone.
Tamara goes to see some of her and Becca’s mutual friends under a bridge when Chen and Bradford shows up. Chen tells Tamara about the stolen watch and asks Becca if she knows what she would do with it. Becca tells them about a pawn shop they used to go to.
Nolan calls Oscar, tells him that Jason was laundering money. Oscar thinks Jason is going to turn himself in because his back is against the wall and try to get a sweat deal.
Harper and Thorsen arrive at his mother’s office, she set him up to meet the guy for the reality TV show, Harper is annoyed.
In the station, Jason admits to all his crimes, he gets a reduced sentence of eight months because he gives up an evil organization that he was working with. Grey tells him that if he tries to pull anything, the deal is off the table.
Chen and Bradford head to the pawn shop and ask about the stolen watch. He still has the watch, the serial number matches, he bought the watch off Declan, Tamara’s friend. Chen is worried about Tamara. Meanwhile, Declan is still with Tamara, he tells her that he went to take the watch from Becca when she was sleeping, she woke up and it was an accident, he pushed her and she banged her head.
Grey, Nolan are on a stakeout with Jason who needs to set up the people he works for. Grey tells Nolan he doesn’t need to be here for this, Nolan says he does. Meanwhile, Harper and Thorsen are in a car staking out and providing backup if anything goes wrong. Oscar calls Nolan and tells him that Jason has a side hustle working with the southern front, the same group that want him dead.
Oscar has a solution, he told the southern front that Jason was working with the cops, they took the hit off Oscar and put it on Jason. Jason almost gets himself shot, but the team acts quickly and takes control of the situation. Jason grabs the bag of money and makes a run for it, Nolan runs after him. Jason drops the money and puts out his fists to fight Nolan who punches him, takes him down to the ground and handcuffs him.
Sanford tells Chen that he convinced his boss to cut a good deal for Tyler. He tells her to give him a break, they are working towards the same goal, just at different angles. She thanks him.
Tamara thanks Chen for everything, for her help, the bed she sleeps on and for getting justice for Becca.
James says he is sorry to Harper, he gets down on his knees and asks her to forgive him. He says they are going to be a kick ass team.
Bailey and Nolan sit down to enjoy a glass a wine and finally getting to exhale, Jason will be in prison for eight years and when he gets out, they will get a restraining order.
