In tonight’s The Rookie episode, Bradford and Chen are patrolling the beach when they respond to a call to a severed hand that washed up a few hours ago and was found by a few kids. Meanwhile, Angela and Wesley are on a Zoom calls with an ivy league school for Jack and Wesley says all the wrong things because he doesn’t agree with it.
At the station, Nolan gets flowers for being the union delegate. And, there is a lineup of cops that want to talk to him. The union president, Briggs, comes in to see Nolan and brings him another gift, he tells him that he is about to be wined and dined. Nolan wants an email where he can send the officers concerns/complaints and Briggs tells him to calm down and enjoy the victory. Meanwhile, McGrady, who found the severed hand is in the station to fill out paperwork and she asks Bradford to go to a dinner thing, he refuses at first but after Chen teases him, he gives in.
Romero, a cop from Rome, is in the station to see Grey to locate a diamond burglar who did a home invasion and murdered the woman and landed in LA three days ago, they thinks he is going to try to escape to South America. Grey wants to work the case with him.
Bradford is at Manmade Labs to investigate a robbery but he won’t give him any information, it is extremely sensitive, they will be handing it in house. The COI just wants the case number for insurance purposes.
Nilan and Harper get called to the hospital, they have a body and they couldn’t save him he bled out because someone cut his hand off.
Grey and Romeo are in an underground garage when Grey’s contact arrives, his name is Flex. Romeo shows him a photo of the international fugitive wanted for the murder charge. Flex look and says he will do his best.
Lopez has the owner of Manmade Labs in a questioning room with his lawyer, the guy who got his hand cut off was his employee and his name was Mark. He mentions a man that he fired, Chester, who wanted to come back with some technology he developed, and he was refused.
Lopez sends Harper and Nolan the suspects address, Chester, who may be responsible for cutting off the guy’s hand. Once inside the house, they heard a knocking sound and when they go into the kitchen, they see a severed arm on the table that is doing the knocking. Chen and Bradford arrive there and the hand is still knocking but no sign of Chester. Harper and Nolan found a freezer with eight more arms in it, Bradford tells Lopez.
Grey gets suspicious of Romeo after they find the suspect and Romeo starts shooting at him without seeing that the suspect has a gun. When Grey calls the Rome police, it turns out that Romeo was already being investigated for being a dirty cop. Grey tells Nolan and Harper to look for the suspect and lays low with Romeo for the time being.
Bradford and Chen get a lead, they believe Chester was getting his limbs from the morgue. They head there and find blood on the walls and floor, and a security guard dead in the stair well. They hear voices and go down a hallway, Bradford sneaks his body cam through a doorway and they see what is going on, Chester has hostages. They turn out the lights, Chen goes in on her hands and knees, they get Chester.
Nolan speaks to a city counselor to make changes that the officers asked for, Briggs finds out and he is furious, he told him to lay low and now he says he is going to get Nolan fired from his new role.
McGrady has extra tickets, she asks Bradford if maybe he wants to invite two other cops. Bradford invites Chen and another cop that she has a crush on. At dinner, Bradford and Chen can’t stop talking and laughing, the other two get annoyed. The next day, they apologize and promise to make it up by having one on one dates to make up for the disasterous double date.
Nolan finds the suspect, calls Grey and he and Romeo go to the site. Romeo goes in first and and hears singing in the shower, he starts shooting. It was a setup, they placed a voice recorder in the shower. Nolan and Harper had already arrested the suspect and now they take Romeo into custody as well.
