Tonight’s episode begins with Chen and Nolan arriving at the station. Thorsen is there and teases Nolan, asking him how he dates out of his league with Bailey. At roll call, Harper is not wearing a uniform, she is doing plain clothes day. And, Nolan is working the front desk with Smitty.

At the front desk, a guy runs down the line to the front in a panic. After Nolan goes through the line, he sees the panicked guy sitting in a chair, he goes over to him and he is dead. Grey and Nolan watch a video, the guy was injected with something in the room by another person. The victim was paranoid that someone was after him because he was testifying in front of a grand jury.

Meanwhile, Thorsen is with Harper, but he has to act like she is not there. Thorsen pulls Natasha Marsh over for an expired plate. He asks her for her license and registration, and to get out of the vehicle. Harper notices a guy in a black SUV filming, she takes a photo of his license. The guy is from Mad Profits Inc., and Harper tells Thorsen that he is tailing them right now. They stop the guy, and Thorsen finds out that it is his mom who had them tailing him and filming him.

Chen and Bradford are on patrol when a vehicle in front of him starts driving erratically and shots are fired, Bradford calls it in and stops to help the victim. Elsewhere, Thorsen hears the call and sees the shooter’s vehicle, and goes after him. But no luck, the guy heads to the freeway, and Harper is pissed. Sadly, the victim passed away before the medics could get there. The driveby wasn’t a fluke, the victim was going to testify before Mateo Rubio’s grand jury. Grey is also a witness in that case and he has left to go testify.

Grey arrives in an underground parking garage and finds a woman following him, he notices and tries to stop her. She tries to stab him and then starts shooting. Grey is hurt, but he manages to shoot the woman. Grey is going to be ok, the shooter dies.

At the hospital, Nolan is going to stay and keep watch on Grey.

Thorsen catches a man going through a stop sign, it is Mr. Hayes, Patrick Hayes’ dad and he starts getting aggressive with Thorsen. Hayes goes to hit Thorsen and he has to cuff him. Back at the station, Thorsen tells Harper that they should let Hayes go, he is not dangerous. Harper offers to release him, she tells Thorsen that nothing good will come of his speaking to him. Harper tells him the DA won’t charge and they will let him go. Hayes tells Harper that Thorsen was like a son to him, it was a lie and he killed his boy. Harper says nothing she will say will change his mind, she can only offer her sincere condolences.

Nolan is in the hospital with Grey is feeling bad about killing someone, Nolan tells him that he had no choice, she would have killed him.

They had ID’d the shooter, Bradford and Chen are there, a whole team arrives to assist them, they have a search warrant. They go inside, Chen smells smoke, the fireplace was on and the person burned up some evidence. Meanwhile, Angela finds the leak, a paralegal sold the witness list and she goes after him. He also gave the name of the prosecutor. Chen calls Chris and tells him that someone is coming to kill him, just then the power goes out in his office. Shots start going off, there is a shooter inside. Chen, Bradford, and a team arrive just in time to get the shooter before anyone is hurt.

Harper tells Thorsen that it wasn’t the worse plain clothes day, but he is going to have to do it all over again. Bradford goes to see Grey and gives him an update, he tells him he will take care of things until he returns. Nolan arrives with dinner for Grey.
