Tonight’s The Walking Dead episode begins with Maggie fighting to survive. Negan is there and they are helping the fallen Elijah, Negan tells her they should just take the food a go. Maggie won’t leave without Daryl. Elsewhere, Judith is trying to survive in a flooded basement with Grave. At the top of the stairs they have barred a door, but it gives loose and walkers come falling down the stairs.
Aaron and Jerry are trying to save themselves and others. Carol is there, Aaron says if the windmill falls it is going to create an opening too big to close. Someone is whistling the emergency signal. Elsewhere, Gabriel almost gets himself shot by Austin, but Daryl comes to the rescue.
Back to the basement, Judith and Grace are struggling to stay alive after the walkers fell down the stairs and into the flooded basement. Aaron arrives just in time to save the day and bash one in the head with his iron arm. Aaron goes under water with another one and basically squishes his head between his two hands. More walkers are coming down the stairs as Aaron pushes Grace and Judith out the window, he is left alone in the water with a dozen or more very angry walkers.
Gabriel runs to safety and kills off one of the reapers. Negan, Maggie and Elijah fight Carver and he is almost a goner until Daryl arrives and says they should keep him alive, use him so they can get out of there alive. Elijah is furious, he wants to kill Carver because he killed his sister. Daryl calls Leah and tells her that he wants to talk.
Aaron is holding on for dear life from the pipes in the basement ceiling, but the water is getting higher and higher and walkers are getting inches away from grabbing him. But in miraculous Walking Dead fashion, he is pulled out with a giant rope and we only see him being pulled out of a window to safety.
Daryl, Negan and Maggie have Carver tied up, Leah arrives and he tells her that he just wants the groups to go their separate ways. Leah calls her sniper Jensen to take out Maggie, but Jensen is not there, it is Gabriel, he took out Jensen. Leah asks Maggie if the deal still stands, Maggie says no, and Leah replies that they can take out a couple before Gabriel gets them. Maggie tells them to drop their weapons and go. Leah tells her two men, the last standing to drop their weapons. She tells Carver she will see him soon. Maggie kneels down to Elijah, he tells her for Josephine. Maggie stands up, she pulls out her gun, shoots Leah’s two men in the back of the head, and shoots Leah in the shoulder. She goes back to Carver, there are no bullets left, but she kills him with an axe.
Leah escapes, Daryl goes to look for her and when he does he says it is not what he wanted, they could have had a second chance. He tells her to go before he changes his mind. Maggie packs up, she tells Gabiel that she is leaving and will catch up another time. She tells Elijah that she will be back soon. Maggie is gone to look for Alden. Maggie goes back to the church where she left Alden, she finds him but he has turned. She puts him out of his misery and lays over him crying, then buries him. Negan walks up, he says she was always going to do what she did and he doesn’t blame her. He says he will be on his own way and he leaves.
Daryl and Elijah are sitting near a fire with Daryl who asks if choices even matter anymore. Maggie returns, she tells them Alden is gone and Negan left. They head back to Alexandria to deliver the food a supplies. When Carol and Jerry see them coming, they wonder where everyone else is. Jerry notices a large group of people heading towards the gates in stormtroopers outfits from the Commonwealth. Eugene is there, he introduces Lance from the Commonwealth. He tells them they can provide labour and materials to help build back what they have lost, but he has another interesting choice to offer.
Six months later, the Commonwealth is back and Maggie is at the gate and says it doesn’t have to be this way. One of the stormtroopers takes off his mask, it is Darryl and he says, yes it does.
