The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) may surrender the dad title and decide only Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) should go by “Daddy.” Will Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) spark a big change?
Y&R fans know Devon called himself “Daddy” in front of Chance and Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Claire Egan) when he picked Dominic Newman-Abbott-Winters-Chancellor (Rainn and River Ware) up for his first overnight visit.
However, Devon seemed apologetic over his insensitivity at the penthouse with Dominic and Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) later.
Even so, Amanda called Devon “Daddy” as well and certainly supports him using the name.
Next, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) wondered what to call Devon and suggested “Dad” or “Pops.”
Devon simply told Lily to take it easy on that, so this is already becoming an awkward issue.
In the January 31 episode, Chance will talk to Chelsea about Dominic’s “other dad.”
Chance will explain the shared custody situation and get a reminder that Chelsea has a biological child she’s not raising.
Chelsea will talk about her affection for Johnny Abbott (Holden and Ryan Hare) despite Victoria Newman-Locke (Amelia Heinle) and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) being his parents legally and in every way that counts.
There’ll also be talk about how Chelsea felt walking away from Johnny was the right call, but Devon feels unable to do that.
Chelsea will point out that she’s never been any sort of mother to Johnny, so that’ll seem to spark some fears for Chance.
Chance will suddenly worry all of this could get too complicated for Dominic to understand.
Although Chelsea will reassure Chance, this is something that may stick with him. Chance may find himself worrying that Devon should be the only one using the name “Daddy.”
It’s easy to see how Y&R has slowly been pulling Chance back from his role as Dominic’s father.
Chance was previously all about taking an indefinite leave from the force and focusing on his family.
Now Chance has been quite supportive of sharing their son and wants to go back to work as of the January 31 show.
The next step may be for Chance to strip himself of the dad title completely.
Abby may be heartbroken if Chance insists Dominic should call him something else.
Chance might argue that Devon is Dom’s true dad and feel like Dom shouldn’t have to be confused about that.
If Chance mentions his conversation with Chelsea, it could leave Abby angry with her filling Chance’s head with more doubts – even inadvertently.
Nevertheless, Chance keeps creating more distance when it comes to Dominic instead of pulling him closer. This whole bonding thing isn’t going well now that Devon’s Daddy takeover has begun.
Will Chance tell Abby that Devon should be the only one going by “Daddy” and upset her even further?
