The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) might marry Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) to boost his Dominic Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Rainn and River Ware) custody chances. Could Devon use this tactic to help present a loving stable home to the judge?
Devon has a couple things working in his favor like his biological connection to Dominic as well as a contract loophole.
Since Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) was out of town when the agreement was drawn up and signed, that complicates the situation.
Devon’s agreement was with Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) alone, so Amanda sees ways she can poke holes in the case.
However, Y&R could always rely on a typical soap trope to give Devon another advantage or at least level the playing field.
It’s common for a marriage to happen for the sake of trying to secure custody on a daytime drama.
Perhaps Amanda could suggest that marrying her would look good to the judge and make her seem like an established presence in the home.
Devon could prove Dominic will have a maternal figure whenever he stays over.
It might help to compete with Abby and Chance’s two-parent household if Devon marries Amanda and locks in his own family unit.
Things would just look a little more stable with a marriage certificate to prove Amanda is sticking around.
Of course, the case could get complicated if Amanda continues to serve as Devon’s lawyer as well, but she could always hand it off to Imani Benedict (Leigh-Ann Rose) if need be.
The point is Devon will want to do everything in his power to ensure the best possible court outcome.
Could marriage come up as a potential legal strategy? Will Devon contemplate marrying Amanda as he works to secure shared custody rights?
Devon will definitely have a lot to figure out as he gears up for a Dominic war!
