The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) is NOT the biological father and will be heartbroken over Dominic Newman-Abbott-Winters-Chancellor’s (Rainn and River Ware) paternity test results. Let’s talk about a major story twist and how it’ll affect the Chancellor baby crew.
Devon offered to be Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor’s (Melissa Ordway) sperm donor, but it seems there was a mix-up in the lab.
CDL previously predicted the show would take this shocking direction – and now there’s new proof of Devon’s crushing blow.
In the beginning, Devon was a supportive friend who wanted to help Abby and Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) start THEIR family.
That morphed into a storyline where Devon has made selfish demands and hurt Abby in the process.
It’s hard not to cringe every time Devon says “MY son” because that’s just not how a sperm donor situation should work.
This story has been disrespectful to people who have to start their families in nontraditional ways.
Devon signed up to help give Chance and Abby a child to raise, not call himself “Daddy” and create a second home to uproot Dominic’s routine.
It feels like Abby has been bullied into catering to what Devon wants, but that’s about to change since Devon has no biological ties and no legal leg to stand on.
The power will swing back to Abby, who’ll be able to make her own decisions about Dom’s care without Devon’s forced interference.
This really is ideal since this story’s gone so far off the rails and seems to be irritating most fans at this point.
After Dominic’s medical issue leads to blood tests, those blood tests should reveal there’s no way Devon could have fathered this baby.
There’ll apparently be some lab mistake as an excuse, so Y&R’s gearing up to undo Dominics’s paternity and break Devon’s heart.
The blood test drama will play out during the week of February 7-11 – and that’ll be followed by Devon’s devastating news during the week of February 14-18.
Devon should learn that he’s not Dominic’s bio dad, so that’ll be a game-changer when it comes to shared custody.
Abby can change her mind and leave Devon unable to fight her in court without any legal claim to Dominic.
Chance can hopefully cave on getting therapy and work on being the best dad he can be. Meanwhile, Devon can be the godfather and uncle figure that Abby originally intended.
Y&R wrote themselves into a messy corner, but it looks like they’re writing their way out of it with this much-needed “not the father” bombshell.
