The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) may plot Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Summer Newman-Abbott’s (Allison Lanier) divorce. Will Diane want to rid her son of Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) daughter?
Y&R fans know Diane has been on her “I’ve changed” apology tour – and part of this new Diane is surely genuine.
Diane really does seem sorry about the pain she caused Kyle and certainly wants her son back in her life.
The problem is that Diane has admitted nothing else matters, so she’s inevitably going to stand against anything that threatens her bond with Kyle.
Diane is still selfish at her core and will scheme if it means she gets that Kyle reconnection.
That brings us to Summer’s recent return and the role she’ll play in the story moving forward.
In the May 18 episode, Diane tells Summer she won’t be the typical annoying mother-in-law and wants to get to know Kyle’s wife better.
Of course, Diane is probably going to be a total nightmare of a mother-in-law instead, especially considering who Summer’s mom is!
Like Phyllis, Summer is concerned about the damage Diane could do and doesn’t trust her at all.
What happens if Diane fears Summer is planting doubts in Kyle’s mind? Could the tension ultimately escalate and cause Kyle to pull away somewhat?
Diane’s best strategy would be to eliminate the obstacles blocking what she wants, which is a happy family with Kyle and potentially Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) as well.
Phyllis and Summer are both potential hindrances, but we want to focus on Summer here.
Could Diane scheme behind the scenes and try to blow “Skyle” apart?
Diane might hope she can set the stage for a divorce, but she’ll have to be sneaky about it.
Maybe Diane could even throw another love interest in Kyle’s path and try to steer him away from Summer’s disapproving view of his mom.
Bottom line, Summer is putting a target on her back by having an untrustworthy opinion of Diane and freely sharing it with Kyle.
Diane may eventually come to see Summer as a hurdle that needs to be cast aside, so we’ll see if she starts plotting to destroy Kyle’s marriage.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Diane’s changed act may not be all it’s cracked up to be, especially since she’d do anything to bond with Kyle again!
