The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Friday, April 1, reveals that Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) will ban Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) from Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and protect their son from his toxic mom. Let’s discuss what’s coming up in Friday’s hot Y&R episode.
In Los Angeles, Diane will offer more of an explanation for her faked death. The plan was to take Kyle far away, but none of it went as expected.
Diane will admit Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) helped her and will add that a corpse from the morgue created the illusion. She limited people who saw her “dead” and paid off anyone who could reveal the truth.
In the end, Diane felt Kyle would be better off sticking with Jack. She came to hate herself since everyone else hated her and it took years to come to grips with what she’d done.
However, Diane will insist she went to therapy and will mention keeping up with Kyle’s life online. When Diane insists they’re grandparents, Jack will fire back that she is simply Kyle’s late mother – that’s what she chose.
Jack will wonder what Diane wants and will argue that the bad far outweighed the good in their prior relationship. There’ll be a tense flashback as well as a sweeter one of Jack proposing.
Diane will feel like there was love between them once upon a time, but Jack will think that died long before she did. He’ll rant about Diane’s latest stunt, but she’ll want Jack to see that she brought Allie Nguyen (Kelsey Wang) into his life.
Diane will also remind Jack that she brought Kyle into this world and will think that still connects them. Nevertheless, Jack will complain about Diane resorting to wild manipulation – to the point that she even bought a house just to talk to him.
Diane will assure Jack that she’s faced her mistakes and has done the work. She’ll contend that the old Diane is truly dead and will add that she guided Jack to the granddaughter that he wouldn’t have known otherwise.
Jack will realize Diane is asking him to help her connect with Kyle, so he’ll shut down that idea fast! He’ll refuse to let toxic Diane destroy Kyle’s life and will want to forget this interaction even happened.
Diane will protest that Kyle needs her and will think he deserves his mother. Jack will fire back that Kyle deserves a real mother, not her.
“And you sure as hell don’t deserve him,” Jack will insist. He’ll tell Diane goodbye before leaving her in tears alone.
Diane will have some flashbacks of when Kyle was a kid and will recall clashing with Jack over Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford). She’ll gaze at Kyle’s picture on her phone and seem pensive.
After Jack asks Allie to come back to the café, there’ll be more flashbacks. Jack will remember trashing Diane to Phyllis and assuring her that every trace of Diane was out of his life forever. He’ll also recall Phyllis flipping out over Kyle’s paternity and the thought of Diane staying in town.
At The Grand Phoenix, Lauren Baldwin (Tracey E. Bregman) will give Phyllis a vague version of what happened to Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc). Lauren will complain about Michael’s unpredictable lifestyle before Phyllis admits she’s worried about Jack, too.
Phyllis will hint that Jack’s dealing with something from his past and will fret over him facing it alone, especially since he’s not answering his phone.
When Jack finally calls Phyllis, she’ll hear in his voice that something’s wrong. Jack will promise that he can handle it, which will only leave Phyllis more concerned.
Once Allie joins Jack at his table, he’ll urge her to forget Diane. Jack will note that he told Diane to stay away from Allie and will think he can take care of himself.
Allie will smile over Jack being fiercely protective like her dad and will want to know more about her family in Genoa City. Jack and Allie will exchange some sweet stories as they continue to bond.
