The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Friday, April 22, reveals that Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) will prepare for a morgue goodbye – and Celeste Rosales (Eva LaRue) will want Rey Rosales’ (Jordi Vilasuso) funeral to be in Miami. Here’s what Y&R viewers can expect in Friday’s emotional episode.
At the cottage, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will talk to Faith Newman (Reylynn Caster) and Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) about doing everything they can to help Sharon.
When Nick says he should call Celeste and let Rey’s family know for the funeral arrangements, Sharon will appear and insist on calling Celeste herself.
After a tearful phone call about the horrible news, Sharon will seem surprised by Celeste’s idea.
Nick will wonder what Celeste said as Sharon hangs up, but she’ll turn her attention to Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa Porter’s (Cait Fairbanks) arrival.
Mariah will hug Sharon and eventually talk about postponing the wedding.
That’ll leave Sharon agitated as she declares Rey absolutely would not want to delay their big day.
Nick will think they should focus on the funeral right now, so Sharon will admit Celeste wants to have it in Miami.
Sharon will explain that’s where Celeste wants Rey laid to rest, so she’ll understand as a mother. At the same time, Sharon will feel like Rey belongs there in Genoa City with them.
Later, Sharon will tell a story about Rey saving a duckling before deciding she has something to do.
Sharon will admit she needs to go to the morgue since Rey’s body is there. She’ll know she has to say goodbye and will think maybe this will help her decide about the funeral arrangements.
After Nick offers to drive Sharon, she’ll grab Rey’s jacket to breathe in his scent.
Mariah, Nick and the others will sense that Sharon is bottling up her emotions, so they’ll urge her to let them out.
They’ll try to convince Sharon that they can handle her grief, but Sharon will insist she has to stay strong.
Sharon will think that’s the way it has to be – or else she may never recover.
After Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) shows up at Chelsea Lawson’s (Melissa Claire Egan) suite, he’ll admit Rey died in a car accident last night.
Chelsea will sit down before crying over the loss and learning more crash details.
Once Chelsea confirms that Sharon knows, she’ll work out a plan to tell Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) with Adam by her side.
Adam will admit he kept Connor out of school so he wouldn’t hear it from anybody but them.
Adam will assure Chelsea that they’ll make Connor understand it was purely an accident.
When Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) finds Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) in her office, she’ll scold her daughter for being back at work so soon.
Victoria will downplay her knee sprain and will like having a distraction from the guilt she’s feeling.
Nikki will insist the accident was tragic, but she’ll assure Victoria that it wasn’t her fault.
“How do you know that? How does anyone really know that?” an upset Victoria will ask.
Victoria will talk about it all being a blur, but Nikki will suggest that the police will investigate and hopefully provide answers to alleviate Victoria’s guilt.
Nikki will just be glad that Victoria’s alive under the circumstances.
Nikki will thank God and even Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) for his role in saving Victoria from that burning car.
In Ashland’s hotel suite, he’ll think back to rescuing Victoria before Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) shows up at his door.
Victor will be upset over Ashland still being in town since he paid half a billion dollars to get rid of him.
Ashland will point out that he honored the terms of the deal since he’s out of the company and agreed to the annulment.
After Victor asks for the facts, Ashland will repeat the details of the crash – concluding with how he saved Victoria before the car was engulfed in flames.
Victor will admit he’s grateful for that, but he’ll still want Ashland to leave town and never return.
Ashland will think that should be up to Victoria, but Victor will warn that Ashland’s going to keep his end of the bargain.
If Ashland doesn’t, Victor will insist there’ll be “hell to pay.”
Later, Victoria will take Ashland’s call and assure him that she’s fine. She’ll ask about Ashland’s burns and will continue to battle guilt over Rey.
Ashland will push Victoria to let go of her guilt and blame him if she wants someone to blame. Victoria won’t be able to do that since Ashland saved her life.
Victoria will hang up abruptly after Victor arrives, which will lead to a conversation about Adam potentially staying on as temporary CEO until everything’s sorted out with Ashland.
Victoria will glare as she replies with an “absolutely not!”
Back in a tearful Chelsea’s suite, she’ll flash back to begging Rey to come to the hockey game with them.
Soon after, Adam will bring Connor over and help Chelsea break the news of Rey’s fatal car accident.
Connor will worry that Rey died because he went home to get the hockey tickets, but Adam will insist nobody’s to blame for what happened.
Even so, Connor will struggle and feel bad for Chelsea since she’d become such good friends with Rey.
After Connor gives his mom a hug and leaves with Adam, Chelsea will look at the hockey game tickets.
Chelsea will yell as she rips them up and will sob over this tragic loss.
