The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Friday, January 7, reveals that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) faces a wild lawsuit for mental distress while Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) sent an ominous text to Lily Winters (Christel Khalil). Let’s talk about what’s coming up on Friday’s exciting Y&R episode.
At The Grand Phoenix, Phyllis will be catching up with Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) when a man appears and tells her she’s been served.
Phyllis will let Amanda look over the civil suit since someone will be accusing Phyllis of fraud, false advertising, mental distress, pain and suffering.
When Phyllis sees that a guest named Becky is behind this lawsuit, she’ll remember her as some freaky girl who wanted to recreate an event through The Escape Club.
Becky got dumped, but she wanted to be the one doing the dumping in the recreation – though she apparently didn’t get the closure she needed.
Becky even had a script, which Phyllis saved on her phone and will comically act it out with Amanda moments later.
Phyllis will point out that Becky’s ex got hit by a bus at the end of the script. She’ll understand what it’s like to be so jealous and full of rage that you just have to hit someone with your car.
Amanda will assume Phyllis means fantasize about it, so Phyllis will tell her “sure.” After Amanda offers to take care of the lawsuit, Phyllis will decide to avoid the legal system and call Becky to offer a one-year membership to The Escape Club.
Phyllis’ plan will work since she’ll come back with the news that Becky is now a VIP member and apologized profusely.
At Society, Imani Benedict (Leigh-Ann Rose) will interrupt Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) and Elena Dawson’s (Brytni Sarpy) attempt to pick out a rug for their place.
Imani will flirt with Nate by praising how handsome he looks in that shirt color, so Elena will seek help on picking out the rug for their bathroom.
After Imani realizes Nate and Elena have moved in together, Elena will point out that she knows how valuable Imani’s billable hours are.
Imani will take the hint and leave, but she’ll compliment Nate one last time as she goes.
Back at The Grand Phoenix, Imani will scold Amanda for not telling her that Nate moved in with Elena. She’ll complain about the uncomfortable conversation she just had before getting an introduction to Phyllis.
Imani will admit she’s heard Phyllis is a “hellraiser” and will think they’re going to get along great.
Once Phyllis is alone, she’ll call Jack and leave an awkward voicemail to check in. Meanwhile, Nate will get a phone call at Society from Roland on the hospital board of directors.
Roland will complain about Nate taking Elena as his date to a recent fundraising banquet and won’t think their relationship is appropriate since he’s a department head.
After Nate explains the situation to Elena, he’ll rant about Roland trying to interfere in his personal life.
Nate will wonder if it’s even worth the hassle to be the chief of surgery, but he’ll be determined to make it work.
At home, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) will tell Lily he has to fly to Chicago, where Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) is at the moment.
Billy will want to patch things up in person since he’s decided to take the COO position at Chancellor Industries.
Billy will also summon Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) to let her know his vengeful plan is done, so she’ll be relieved.
When Traci admits she privately confronted Victoria Newman-Locke (Amelia Heinle), Billy will get irritated over everyone treating him like a wayward child who has to be handled.
However, Lily will play peacemaker and make sure the siblings end the conversation on good terms.
In a private moment, Traci will get confirmation from Lily that Billy is genuinely OK. She’ll be glad Billy has someone like Lily in his life since he’ll listen to her without resentment.
At Newman Media, Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) will warn Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) this isn’t a great time to see Adam Newman (Mark Grossman).
Chelsea will insist this is about Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) and will feel confident that Adam will make time for her, so she’ll barge right on in.
Adam will be in a foul mood, so Chelsea will call him out and get updates on Billy’s latest drama.
Chelsea will push Adam to let go of this battle and focus on his own success since he’s at the top of his game right now. She’ll also mention that Connor had a negative reaction to her selling the penthouse.
Since Connor wound up in tears, Chelsea will seek Adam’s help talking to him. They’ll head over the ranch, where Connor will complain about how he doesn’t want any more changes.
Connor will just want to be a family again and will eventually suggest Chelsea could just live there at the ranch with them.
Connor will whine about how Adam and Chelsea haven’t even tried to work things out this time.
Connor will be upset since Adam promised they’d be a real family, but Adam will remind Connor that happened a long time ago. He’ll point out that a lot of things have changed.
Chelsea will reassure Connor that they can be a real family from anywhere and will seek his help picking out a new home.
As for Sally, she’ll meet up with Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) at Society. Chloe will complain about Sally’s interest in Adam as well as her attitude toward Chelsea.
After Chloe insists they have to be a team for the sake of the fashion platform, she’ll warn Sally to fix it and add that it’s not a suggestion!
Back at the office, Sally will approach Adam and Chelsea as they return from the ranch.
Adam will tell Sally this isn’t a good time to talk about the new budgets, so that’ll please Chelsea.
Once the women are alone, Chelsea will contend that Sally shouldn’t take it personally since Adam’s priority will always be his family.
Sally will tell Chelsea there’s something she’d like to get off her chest after speaking with Chloe. She’ll apologize for any misunderstandings and insist she’s not after Adam.
Sally will claim that she only wants to work with Chelsea and learn from her, but Chelsea will clarify that Sally actually works FOR her.
However, Chelsea will suggest she’s glad to hear that since they all want the fashion platform to be a success.
In Adam’s office again, he’ll seem obsessed as he thinks back to Billy trashing him. Adam will send Lily a text right after Billy heads out to catch his flight.
When Lily sees that Adam’s wishing her the best of luck at Chancellor, she’ll look unsettled.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Adam could have a few tricks up his sleeve, so stay tuned to Y&R.
