The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) will inevitably be furious over his mom playing dead, so he seems poised to blast Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) for abandonment.
Diane was supposedly killed off in 2011, so Kyle will be thrown for a loop once he learns his mother survived after all.
Since Y&R spoilers confirm this is the real Diane and not some newly created twin or doppelganger, that’s important to keep in mind.
Of course, Diane also doesn’t seem to have any memory issues since she’s apparently the one texting Jack.
That rules out amnesia, so Diane really has no excuse for not getting in touch with Kyle and telling him the truth.
Kyle has spent years thinking Diane was gone forever, so he’s sure to be hurt and confused.
There are plenty of pivotal moments when Kyle could’ve used his mother in his life, so he may want to confront Diane in person and demand some answers.
Naturally, Diane may be eager to apologize and push for a fresh start.
She’ll no doubt want to get to know Kyle again and get to know Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez) as well.
However, Kyle will have to put some serious thought into whether he wants Diane around his son or even in his own life.
Kyle’s priority will be protecting his family, so Diane may have to win his trust before any bonding can happen.
It’d be pretty awful for Y&R to handle something of this magnitude over video chat, so Kyle may ultimately face off with Diane back in Genoa City.
We’re hearing that Michael Mealor indeed has some important appearances in the works.
That doesn’t mean Kyle will embrace Diane as his mom right off the bat!
Kyle may end up admitting he needs time to process everything and head back to Milan to do just that.
A casting call went out for a new Summer not too long ago, so the show may have big plans for another “Skyle” storyline.
Whether Mealor returns full-time or Kyle gets recast too, we could eventually see Kyle and Summer make a joint GC comeback.
Diane Jenkins’ return should open the door to all kinds of interesting Kyle drama, so the show should take advantage of this complicated mother-son reconnection.
