The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Summer Newman-Abbott (Allison Lanier) may split over their feuding moms. Will Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) and Diane Jenkins’ (Susan Walters) rivalry drive this couple apart?
Up to now, Summer has been supportive of Kyle’s efforts to reconnect with his mother.
Although Summer is proceeding with caution, she’s seen enough positive changes in Diane to keep an open mind.
However, that could change as this storyline moves along.
Phyllis will move forward with her plan to sabotage Diane and make it seem like she’s intentionally setting Marchetti up to fail.
Of course, that’s the kind of plot that could really divide Summer and Kyle.
It’s easy to imagine Kyle insisting Diane would never ruin this job opportunity or her relationship with him.
Perhaps Kyle could even accuse Phyllis of framing Diane, which is exactly what Phyllis intends to do.
That could lead to Summer defending Phyllis and acting like her mom wouldn’t sink that low.
Summer could underestimate just how far Phyllis will go to get rid of Diane with Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) and Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) backing her up.
There could be a real battle between Summer and Kyle over who to believe.
Regardless, Diane and Phyllis’ war is definitely going to get worse in the coming months.
Kyle and Summer’s marriage is on solid ground right now, but that’s usually when soapy drama is just around the corner.
Summer and Kyle can’t stay happy forever, so something will have to come along and threaten to blow up their romance.
The growing conflict between Phyllis and Diane could easily lead to a “Skyle” divorce or at least the threat of one.
Will Kyle and Summer split due to Diane and Phyllis’ rivalry?
