The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Kyle Abbott’s (Michael Mealor) “forever” prediction may doom his marriage. Will Kyle seal his split from Summer Newman-Abbott (Allison Lanier) with his destiny comment?
In Y&R’s October 11 episode, Kyle is amazed over how in sync he is with Summer regarding their travel plans.
Summer suggests getting the nanny to bring Harrison Abbott (Kellen Enriquez) down to Costa Rica so they can turn the last few days of their honeymoon into a family fun beach vacation.
That leads Kyle to insist he was just about to propose the same idea.
However, it’s the next part that’s truly disturbing – at least when you think about it like a soapy hint of what’s ahead.
Kyle talks about all the breakups and makeups that led them here before adding that once they made it permanent, they were destined to last forever.
Of course, the second a soap character starts making “forever” comments is usually the moment that fans should worry!
It’s usually a huge tipoff that major drama is about to go down.
Kyle and Summer’s marriage is certainly on solid ground right now, but that’s the kind of remark that potentially dooms them for a temporary split or even a divorce.
It’s rare that a soap marriage is permanent anyway, but it’s especially rare when a character goes around tempting fate like that.
Kyle is practically daring the universe to throw obstacles in his path and put his relationship with Summer to the test.
The universe is indeed going to deliver, so we have to believe Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) will play a role in the looming conflict for Summer and Kyle.
That’s especially true since Diane is hiding her link to Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John) – and keeping secrets is always a recipe for disaster.
However, the more specific issue for Summer and Kyle may be about Harrison.
This could turn into a battle about whether Diane still deserves a spot in Harrison’s life.
If Kyle proves more compassionate than Summer when it comes to Diane’s error in judgment, it could bring quite a war.
Naturally, there’s the potential for new love interests and betrayals once things head south.
It’ll be interesting to see how far downhill the show allows “Skyle” to go, but Kyle’s “forever” comment definitely offers the first sign of trouble.
