The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers update for Monday, January 3, teases that Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) will fear he’s missing his paternal instinct while Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) spies Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) together.
At the Chancellor mansion, Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) will come home to find Chance’s romantic surprise.
They’ll try to have a nice New Year’s Eve, but Abby will eventually share how concerned she is about Chance.
That’ll lead to Chance opening up about how he feels like a failure as a father.
Chance will argue that he just doesn’t have the paternal instinct he’s supposed to have – not like Devon who always knows the right thing to do.
After Chance reflects on his own father abandoning his family, he’ll suggest that might play a role in his issues.
Overall, Chance will be struggling to figure this fatherhood thing out and will wonder if he’s really got what it takes to be a good dad.
While Abby reassures Chance, Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) will let Devon know he’s got her full support.
Amanda will get Devon to admit that Dominic Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Rainn and River Ware) is on his mind this New Year’s Eve, but she’ll think that’s understandable.
Amanda will admire the way Devon cares for Dominic and will want to keep helping Devon pursue time with him.
Amanda will realize her own family history might be clouding her view in some ways, but she’ll believe there’s plenty of room for love in Dom’s life.
Amanda will even go as far as acting like Chance and Devon are both Dominic’s fathers.
Amanda will touch Devon’s heart with that sentiment as she talks about all the love Dom deserves.
At Chelsea’s place on Monday’s Y&R episode, she’ll try and fail to score a reunion with Adam.
Despite Chelsea’s heartfelt attempt to get back together, Adam will think nothing good would come of that.
Adam will want Newman Media and co-parenting to be the extent of their relationship, but he’ll know that’s not what Chelsea wants to hear.
After Adam receives a text about an emergency at the office, he’ll tell Chelsea he has to go take care of it. However, it’ll actually be Sally’s “non-date” movie night setup at the office.
Sally will put up banners and other holiday décor for every holiday under the sun – except New Year’s Eve since they nixed celebrating that one.
Once Sally explains her snack choices and gets Adam’s approval on North by Northwest, they’ll get close on the couch – just in time for Chelsea to show up and see them toasting!
Chelsea will have to head home and guzzle a drink of her own after that.
Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) and Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) will also enjoy a wonderful anniversary together.
After a brief interaction with Chelsea, Sharon will surprise Rey with the same cake they had on their wedding night.
It won’t taste the greatest since it’s been frozen and thawed, but Rey will like the tradition anyway.
Rey will lead Sharon in a cute dance before they lock lips, so there’ll be some sweet “Shey” celebration scenes as New Year’s Eve continues in Genoa City.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Sharon and Rey could face some marriage drama in 2022, so perhaps they should savor this calm before the storm.
