The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers update for Monday, May 2, reveals that Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) will consider Diane Jenkins’ (Susan Walters) miracle change while Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) protects Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) and Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez).
At home, Kyle will lash out over Diane stalking him on social media instead of actually pursuing a real relationship with him.
Kyle won’t get how Diane could do something as cruel as make her own son believe she was dead.
Diane will do her best to convince Kyle that she had no way out.
As for why Diane bailed on coming to collect Kyle at boarding school, she’ll act like life on the run would’ve ruined him.
Although Kyle will feel abandoned, Diane will think he became the terrific man he is today because she left him in Jack’s stable hands.
Diane will add that leaving Kyle was like leaving behind a piece of her soul.
“Words, Mom!” Kyle will shout. He’ll struggle to believe Diane’s excuses, but she’ll insist she was toxic and a horrible person.
It wasn’t until much later that Diane put the work in and evolved through therapy.
Tears will fall as Diane talks about throwing her beautiful life with Kyle away.
Diane will seem to genuinely regret hurting Kyle and will hope maybe he can forgive her in time.
Kyle won’t be sure he can offer Diane a place in his life.
Kyle will point out that he’s the happiest he’s ever been, so he’ll warn that he won’t risk bringing any turmoil into Summer and Harrison’s world.
Diane will be patient and compassionate to Kyle’s side of all this.
Diane will hope for another meeting when Kyle’s ready, but she won’t push him to commit to one yet.
At the coffeehouse, Jack will go back and forth on whether he was right to help Diane.
Kyle will worry about the risks, but he’ll also wonder if by some miracle Diane might be telling the truth – that she’s really turned her life around.
Phyllis will be appalled over Jack even considering the idea. She won’t be able to suspend disbelief enough to put Diane changing in the realm of possibility.
“There are some people in this town who might say the same thing about you,” Jack will insist on Monday’s Y&R episode.
Jack will infuriate Phyllis with that comparison, so Phyllis will mention that she didn’t fake her death and let someone else take the fall.
From where Phyllis is standing, she won’t see one iota of change in Diane.
In the end, Jack will concede that Phyllis is absolutely right. He’ll assure Phyllis that he’s not going to let his guard down.
Phyllis and Jack will expect Diane to be gone when they return to the Abbott mansion.
Diane will hint that she was just wrapping things up with Kyle and will leave in a hurry.
Kyle won’t be ready to open up to Jack about what happened, but he’ll seem appreciative over Jack’s offer to listen.
Instead, Kyle will opt to take a walk by himself and get some fresh air.
Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) will want to visit Dominic Newman-Abbott-Winters-Chancellor (Rainn and River), so he’ll stop by Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) and Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor’s (Melissa Ordway) place.
Chance will give Victor updates on Rey Rosales’ (Jordi Vilasuso) official cause of death being a heart attack, not the car crash.
Victor will also share a tender moment with his son-in-law, so he’ll offer advice about Chance making the most of his life with Abby and Dominic.
Later, Chance will let Abby know he’s much stronger than he was when he came back from Spain.
Chance will vow not to fall apart over Rey’s death and will think it helps having people in his corner.
As for Victor, he’ll break in Diane’s hotel room offscreen and lie in wait for her.
That’ll bring Diane’s gasp when she opens her door and comes face to face with one of her old foes!
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Victor will ultimately have some harsh words for Diane, who’d better stay in line if she knows what’s good for her.
