The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Monday, September 5 Recap – Diane Series Canceled Mysteriously – Kyle Reacts to Scandal

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Monday, September 5, teases that the rest of the Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) series will be canceled mysteriously while Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) reacts to his mom’s scandal. Let’s discuss all the drama happening in Monday’s Y&R episode.

At the Abbott house, Kyle will fill Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) in on the vow renewal and hometown wedding reception. When Summer Newman-Abbott (Allison Lanier) appears, she’ll grow suspicious over Kyle pretending to chat about hockey.

Summer will wonder if this is about the article, but Kyle won’t know what she’s talking about. After Traci gives them a moment alone, Kyle will look at Talia Morgan’s (Natalie Morales) story on Summer’s phone and know his mother must be mortified.

At Crimson Lights, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) will praise Talia for her amazing work. Talia will admit that people are calling in with tips on Diane from LA and other places.

Although Talia will intend to follow up on those tips and find more revelations, she’ll get updates from her managing editor. Talia won’t understand when she learns the entire series has been canceled and that the magazine won’t be publishing any more Diane-related articles.

At Jabot, Diane will complain to Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), but he won’t really think she should be surprised since it’s such a juicy story. Although Diane will worry about the bad publicity for Marchetti and the potential for Kyle to distance himself, Jack will offer encouragement.

Jack will act like that story is old news for the people closest to Diane – and her coworkers already know that Kyle has moved beyond her past. After Jack warns Diane not to let this derail her, she’ll thank him for the advice as always.

Diane will also look at a text in a private moment. Someone mysterious will confirm that all the future articles were killed and will insist that Diane owes him or her.

Afterward, Phyllis will taunt Diane over the embarrassment, but Diane will make it clear that Phyllis isn’t going to trigger whatever explosion she thought would happen.

Once Kyle spots his mom looking frustrated, he’ll argue that he can distinguish between the Diane in the article and the one there today. Diane will be grateful as Kyle promises she has his support.

After Kyle steps in the office and tells Phyllis about the wedding party, he’ll acknowledge that she’s protective of Summer and won’t blame her. There’ll also be talk about a memo Phyllis sent, which Jack will praise when he enters.

Both Jack and Kyle will be impressed with Phyllis’ work since she joined the Marchetti team. When Jack is alone with Phyllis, he’ll ask how much she had to do with that piece on Diane. Phyllis will hastily blurt out that she had nothing to do with it – that it was all Talia!

Later, Diane will spot Phyllis and Jack laughing about his reluctance to redecorate the Abbott living room for a promotion. Once Diane pulls up the cryptic text from earlier, she’ll reply that things are still precarious and urge that person not to contact her.

At home again, Summer will catch Kyle on the phone making secret plans, so he’ll admit he’s working on a surprise. Although Summer will want details, Kyle will keep those under wraps and enjoy some kisses with his wife.

After accidentally picking up the wrong picnic basket, Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) and Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) will dine on Dominic Newman-Abbott-Winters-Chancellor’s (Rainn and River Ware) apple slices and fish crackers in the park.

Once things take a passionate turn in the bedroom afterward, Abby will open up about her vision for a normal life. In a perfect world, Abby would cut back on her hours and Chance would pass on his riskier cases.

Abby will admit that Chance sometimes brings tension home with him and will think they’ll be happier the more they prioritize their relationship. That’ll leave Chance looking deep in thought.

On the GCAC rooftop, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) will urge Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) to talk to a therapist about his Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) issues. Nick will be hesitant to open up to a stranger, but Adam won’t think he should put off handling his inner demons.

Soon after, Nick will decide to confide in Nikki since she understands about Ashland. After Nick addresses his guilt, he’ll talk about Adam’s surprising support and how he feels bad for his previously harsh judgment over what happened in Kansas.

At Newman Media, Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) will scold Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) for interfering with Adam and mention that he asked for forgiveness. Chloe will think Adam’s got a lot of nerve and will push Sally to see that she’s her friend while Adam is NOT.

When Adam bumps into Sally at the park, she’ll admit she can’t stop thinking about what he said. Sally won’t even know what forgiveness would look like, but Adam will insist she can define it however she likes.

After Sally suggests Adam could make another unilateral move to upend her whole world, she’ll get emotional and decide she can’t talk about this right now. Adam will seem upset as Sally takes off looking distraught.

As other Y&R info comes in, we’ll keep you posted. The Young and the Restless spoilers say there’s still hope for Sally and Adam’s future, but it’ll take some time and effort to get there! CDL’s the place to be for terrific Young and the Restless spoilers, updates and news, so stop by frequently.
