Nick was surprised when Sharon decided to support his return to Newman – and many Y&R fans were surprised, too.
Sharon previously acted like it was better for Nick to avoid the family drama, but she later decided that he could handle the pressure.
Since Nick is older and wiser now, Sharon feels like he can change the company instead of letting the company change him.
However, it wouldn’t be much of a story if Sharon turned out to be right!
Nick may thrive at Newman Enterprises at first, but that doesn’t mean the situation will remain a positive one.
Sooner or later, working at Newman always brings out the worst in Nick. Why should it be any different this time around?
Sharon’s belief that Nick has matured enough for this may be proven wrong at some point.
Rejoining Newman will probably change Nick after all. How could it not since Nick is going to be caught in constant family chaos and may be used as a pawn in Victor’s games?
Nick is setting himself up for major trouble here, so that could have Sharon rethinking her guidance down the road.
Of course, Nick may not see the problems developing as his storyline heats up.
Sharon and Nick seem poised for a romantic reunion when the time is right, but this Newman comeback could lead to issues that put that reunion at risk.
Will Nick turn into a different person by embracing the COO role and all the typical Newman mayhem it brings?
There’s no story if Nick simply succeeds in this new opportunity, so the show may be building up his confidence – only to set him up for a huge fall.
