The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Tuesday, August 9, reveals that Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) will spy on Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow). Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) will also pick Kyle Abbott’s (Michael Mealor) replacement, so let’s discuss what’s ahead on Y&R.
At Newman Enterprises, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) will fill Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) in on Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) cover-up.
Nikki will decide she’d better get back to the ranch since Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) just arrived there.
Meanwhile, Sharon will lock the coffeehouse up to talk to Nick again.
Nick will admit he told Victoria the truth before the conversation shifts to Chance’s tricky situation.
Sharon will point out that exposing the real story would mean Chance would have to put his wife’s family in jeopardy.
Nick will insist he’s so close to telling Chance what Victor did, but Sharon will think his reaction is more about his own guilt – though she won’t think Nick should blame himself for any of this.
At the ranch, Chance will push Victor to be straight with him about having Ashland Locke’s (Robert Newman) body removed and disposed of.
Victor will note that Chance has no evidence, but Chance will point out that Victor has covered up a fatal accident involving his children before.
After Victor realizes Chance is talking about what happened with Adam on the farm in Kansas, he’ll insist that was decades ago.
Victor will refuse to divulge anything about Ashland and will think it’s good that he’s no longer a danger to anyone.
Next, Chance will show back up at Victoria’s office after leaving his phone behind.
Victoria will fish for info on how Chance’s grilling session with Victor went and will urge Chance to drop the investigation.
Chance will argue that this isn’t about Ashland and will claim it’s more about Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) instead.
After Chance talks about wanting to live up to Rey’s standards, Victoria will hint that people like Ashland can strip you of your belief in the truth.
Back at the ranch, Nikki will confront Victor about the cover-up, but her main issue will be that he wasn’t honest with her about it.
Victor will admit Chance didn’t like his answers, which won’t surprise Nikki since they weren’t real answers at all.
At Newman Media, Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) will be distracted by memories of Adam as Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) pitches a business idea.
Chloe will eventually realize what’s on Sally’s mind, so she’ll suggest an Adam exorcism and offer a pep talk.
Sally will quickly get her groove back and mention that she’s rethinking their approach to the Ashland story.
Chloe will feel like that’s risky, especially since they’re still on probationary status.
However, Sally will recap how she told Nick she knew about the punch without revealing her source.
With that nugget in their back pocket, Sally will doubt that the Newmans will fire them.
Sally will also want to be ready with an article on file – one that’ll be sympathetic to the Newmans’ point of view.
After Sally pushes Chloe to find out more info from Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart), Chloe will insist that’s a big ask.
Sally will wonder how well Chloe knows Chance, so Chloe will admit they were engaged once upon a time.
That said, Chloe hasn’t been in touch with Chance for a while and won’t think he’d spill anything anyway.
Sally will feel confident they can figure out the missing puzzle pieces one way or another.
At Society, Adam will join Jack at a table and get some advice. Jack won’t think Adam should stew in resentment and will even offer him a new job at Jabot.
After Jack assures Adam this offer is legit, he’ll talk about how he doesn’t want to miss watching Harrison Abbott (Kellen Enriquez) grow up.
Now that Kyle has moved over to Marchetti, Jack will need someone to help steer the ship at Jabot.
When Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) comes along, he’ll ask if Jack is making a deal with the devil.
Once Adam is gone, Jack will admit he just offered Adam a job.
Billy will think this is a huge mistake, but Jack will explain how he could use someone to replace Kyle.
Jack will also suggest Billy should try looking beyond the “monster” when it comes to Adam.
Back at Crimson Lights, Nick will decline Sharon’s offer to join her for dinner with Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) and Allie Nguyen (Kelsey Wang).
After Nick decides maybe he’ll go for a run or watch cartoons with Christian Newman (Alex Wilson) instead, Sharon will think those are good ideas.
As for the Ashland cover-up, Sharon won’t want Nick to feel responsible for what Victor chose to do.
While Sharon is reassuring Nick, Adam will arrive and seem baffled by the locked front door.
Adam will end up peeking in the window at Nick and Sharon, so he’ll look deep in thought after spying.
