The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers update for Tuesday, January 11, teases that Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) will fuel Devon Hamilton’s (Bryton James) wrong dad desires while Chance Chancellor’s (Conner Floyd) past haunts. Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will also be the guest of honor, so some great stuff’s coming up in Genoa City.
Y&R fans know Devon started out wanting to respect the boundaries of the agreement he signed.
Devon didn’t want to interfere when it came to the family Chance and Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) were creating with Dominic Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Rainn and River Ware).
However, things changed once Amanda, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) and even Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) started filling Devon’s head with all these ideas about what he’s entitled to.
The truth is Devon is entitled to be a godfather from a respectful distance – and that’s it. Nothing more, nothing less.
The craziest part is that Amanda actually worked on this contract to make sure Devon was satisfied early on.
Amanda is now trying to undo all that so Devon can have legal rights to Dominic, which could harm Chance’s ability to bond with the boy.
Abby is right about overnight visits potentially being confusing for Dominic – not to mention they would upend Dom’s routine and leave him feeling unsettled all the time.
For someone who claims to care so much about Dominic’s well-being, Devon isn’t really taking that into consideration.
Every minute Dominic spends with Devon is another minute the baby connects with him instead of his legal father, which is Chance.
Nevertheless, Amanda will keep cheering Devon on and acting like it’s perfectly reasonable for a sperm donor to be so pushy.
Amanda will think she can build a solid case for Devon to get the shared custody he now wants, so they’ll work on some preparations in Tuesday’s episode.
Meanwhile, Chance’s past will become more of an issue for Abby. She’ll continue to worry her husband is bottling things up and not letting her help like he should.
At the same time, Abby will begin to wonder if she’s capable of helping Chance the way he needs to be helped.
People who have been through this kind of trauma often seek professional therapy, so that’ll be a suggestion Abby presents in the coming episodes.
For now, Abby will mostly just observe and fret. She’ll want to make sure their family has the opportunity to thrive – and they need Chance to be truly healthy to do that.
Abby may also keep the possibility of Devon’s retaliation in the back of her mind. She’s aware of how attached Devon is to Dominic, so she may fear Chance’s struggles could come back to bite him.
Amanda can be a pretty cutthroat attorney, so she could easily use Chance’s trauma as a tool in her arsenal.
That could help Amanda make a case for why Devon deserves to be a protective presence, so it could be on the table as a legal strategy.
At the coffeehouse, Nick will be the belated birthday boy. He’ll get a cute surprise party thanks to Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) and some familiar faces she rounds up.
Faith Newman (Reylynn Caster), Moses Winters (Jacob Aaron Gaines), Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes), Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) and Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) will all show up to eat, drink and be merry.
There may be some baby talk now that Tessa and Mariah have decided to adopt a child.
Nick will certainly be happy for them, even if Noah remains wistful about what might’ve been with Tessa. Noah was also given a shot at a New Hope job, so we’ll see if he decides to accept or pass.
Regardless, Nick will be on cloud nine after this celebration. He’ll no doubt thank Sharon and inch even closer to her as a result.
Could Nick and Sharon reunite in the months ahead? Time will tell, but Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) might have a reason to worry if all this bonding keeps up.
