The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Tuesday, January 18, teases that Summer Newman-Abbott’s (Hunter King) job offer will tempt Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) while Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) oversteps with a power play. Here’s what Y&R viewers can look forward to.
In Victoria Newman-Locke’s (Amelia Heinle) office, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) will be taken aback to find Ashland working on the computer at Victoria’s desk.
Ashland will mention needing to access Dubai project info and will add that he’s going to meet with a potential new senior level hire later.
When Ashland suggests this person would be the perfect fit for the vice president of strategy, Nikki will argue that Regina is already doing a great job.
Ashland will disagree before admitting he hasn’t run this by Victoria, who doesn’t need to be bothered with pesky details.
Nikki will seem concerned about Ashland wanting to bring his own people in and make his mark at Newman-Locke.
Victoria will eventually interrupt and find out what’s going on, but she’ll decide a simple preliminary meeting wouldn’t hurt.
After Ashland leaves, Victoria will make it clear to Nikki that she’s the CEO – and it’s not a shared position of power.
Victoria will think Ashland is on the same page and understands that, but she’ll seem a bit pensive once she’s alone.
Later, Ashland will meet back up with Victoria following his meeting.
Ashland will note that the guy probably wouldn’t be willing to relocate unless the package and position were exceptional.
Victoria won’t be prepared to make that kind of commitment, but she’ll think they can make him a short-term consulting offer that’ll be worth his while.
That’ll work for Ashland, who’ll think he’s completely in sync with Victoria.
After leaving a message for Christine Williams (Lauralee Bell), Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) will remain in fighting mode against Devon Hamilton (Bryton James).
Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) will want to look at all the angles and won’t think there’s an easy answer here.
“There’s only one answer – and the answer is no!” Abby will declare.
Abby will be troubled over Devon feeling like Dominic’s father and will suggest Devon’s accusations about Chance’s emotional state are wrong.
Abby will feel like Chance just needs more time to get reacclimated.
Chance will get updates on what Devon had to say and will worry he’s right about Dominic needing a more present father.
Chance will admit he lied to Abby about feeling more connected and settled. He’ll fear Dominic is missing out being around all his confusion instead of Devon’s certainty.
Chance will add that Devon has a direct line to Dom’s heart and will remind Abby that they’re blood. As Abby stands there crying, Chance will wonder if it’s right for them to stand in the way of that.
At The Grand Phoenix, Phyllis will talk to Summer on the phone and fish for info on Jack Abbott’s (Peter Bergman) new collaboration with Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) in Milan.
Summer will have to get off the phone in a hurry, so Phyllis will seem bummed.
At Crimson Lights, Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) will accept Nick Newman’s (Joshua Morrow) offer to work at New Hope, which will delight Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case).
Soon after, Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) will come along looking thrilled over a surprise she has to show Noah.
Next, Phyllis will be having a lonely dinner at Society when she spots Nick picking up takeout. She’ll convince Nick to join her for a minute, but things will be rather strained and awkward.
At the penthouse, Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) will point out that Abby feels betrayed and needs time.
Devon will be frustrated over having to risk his best friend so that he can be a father to Dominic – and he’ll once again refer to Dom as “my son.”
When Phyllis calls Amanda and asks to meet up for a drink, Devon will urge her to go.
As luck would have it, Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) will arrive right as Amanda’s heading out.
When Mariah finds out the latest custody drama details, she’ll insist this is crazy. Mariah will warn that Devon can’t take Chance and Abby to court, but he’ll feel they left him no choice.
Devon will think that Mariah should understand his perspective better than anyone.
Mariah will mention how she had to take a step back and realize the baby wasn’t her “Bowie.” He was Chance and Abby’s Dom.
However, Devon will feel like he’s doing what’s best for Dominic’s well-being and will assure Mariah that this is a last resort.
Back at The Grand Phoenix, Phyllis will share a drink with Amanda and express concern over all the free time on her hands.
Phyllis will feel like something has to change for her or else she’s going to start creating a lot of chaos.
At the coffeehouse again, Tessa will show Noah the finished album – including his artwork.
Tessa will mention that it’s ready to go out to the masses and will feel like Noah has to be at the launch party.
Sharon will interrupt at one point to ask if they need anything and will seem nervous about Noah still pining for Tessa.
However, Noah will insist they’re good before Sharon scurries away.
Noah will give Tessa same old heart eyes and will end up asking about how the adoption’s going.
Noah will also wonder if Tessa and Mariah might get married, so Tessa will admit she’s ready for that next step and a forever commitment.
When Mariah shows up and pulls Tessa away to discuss Devon, Sharon will once again approach Noah.
Sharon will want to make sure Noah’s all right, so he’ll seem to get what she’s thinking and argue that she’s misreading the situation.
Back at the penthouse, Devon will fill Amanda in on Mariah’s concerns about him taking Abby and Chance to court.
He’ll talk about how many people this move will affect, but Amanda will think Devon just has to focus on Dominic and follow his heart.
Over with Phyllis again, she’ll get another call from an excited Summer.
Phyllis will be stunned when Summer admits there’s an offer for Phyllis to work at Marchetti. That news will leave Phyllis intrigued, so she’ll ask what kind of offer it is.
