The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Wednesday, July 20 Recap – Ashland Rejects Adam Partnership, Targets Victoria Alone

The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Wednesday, July 20 Recap – Ashland Rejects Adam Partnership, Targets Victoria Alone

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Wednesday, July 20, reveals that Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) will reject an Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) partnership and doom Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) with a solo scheme – though it seems Adam will actually be looking out for his sister.

At Newman Media, Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) will assume she’s out of a job, but Victoria and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will reveal that they’ve decided to keep her on in the short-term.

Victoria will explain that Sally will be the interim CEO for 90 days – and at that point, her performance will be evaluated to see if she’ll continue in the role.

Sally will insist she’s up for the challenge and is the right person for the job.

When talk turns to Sally’s COO, Victoria and Nick will agree she needs someone with experience.

However, Sally will point out that Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) has already accepted the job, so Victoria will decide that Sally and Chloe can rise or fall together.

At the Abbott house, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) will catch Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) and Allie Nguyen (Kelsey Wang) kissing, so there’ll be awkward apologies all around.

After Jack makes himself scarce, Noah will invite Allie to come back to the GCAC rooftop to party tonight.

Allie will mention her internship tomorrow and how she doesn’t want Jack to get the wrong idea, but Noah will worry this is about him instead of Jack.

Nevertheless, Allie will admit she’s just blown away by how fast her life is changing.

After deciding she doesn’t want to put off the fun, Allie will urge Noah to tell Nick his New Hope decision and meet back up with her.

As Noah starts to leave, Allie will pull him in for one more kiss.

Later, Allie will admit to Jack that she’s a bit overwhelmed in a good way – though she won’t know why she’s acting like a confused teenager.

Jack will contend that falling in love will do that and will note that he’s happy for Allie.

At Society on Wednesday’s Y&R episode, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) will meet with Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) and Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) about their plan to drive Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) out of town.

Ashley will admit she got the gist of what happened between Jack and Phyllis, but she’ll assure Phyllis that she sided with her.

Once Nikki gets the latest news on the “Phack” drama, she’ll understand Phyllis’ perspective, too.

Nikki will feel like they’d have better luck convincing Jack to listen than Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor), but Ashley won’t be so sure.

After Ashley hints about Jack’s complicated feelings for Diane, Phyllis will flip out and get a warning.

Ashley will insist they can’t be partners if they constantly have to worry about Phyllis going off the deep end and doing something stupid.

As Phyllis and Ashley bicker, Nikki will intervene and remind them to keep their eyes on the prize.

There’ll be talk about how evidence is needed to convince Jack, Kyle and Summer Newman-Abbott (Allison Lanier) that Diane hasn’t changed.

Ashley will also think she needs to talk to Allie in case Diane is still using her.

Back at the Abbott house, Allie will flash back to her kiss with Noah and seem blissful.

Noah will also get a pep talk from Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) about confessing to Nick and will learn that he’s got “something great” going on in his life.

Next, Adam will lie to an athletic club employee after calling out to Ashland and hearing nothing inside his hotel room.

Adam will insist his friend has a heart condition and will pretend he’s genuinely concerned for him.

The employee will open the door, so Adam will remark on the mess right as Ashland returns.

Once Ashland pays the employee and vows to clean this up himself, he’ll admit to Adam that he’s been in jail.

Adam will find out about Diane’s involvement – though Ashland will assume Victor was behind the whole thing.

After Adam pushes to find out Ashland’s next move, he’ll act like he needs an ally to unload on right now.

Ashland will wonder why Adam isn’t crying to Sally, but Adam will explain that it’s over since she couldn’t keep dating him and hold onto the CEO spot.

After Ashland assumes Sally broke things off, Adam won’t correct him.

Instead, Adam will suggest they both have very little to lose and will work to convince him they’re on the same side.

Ashland will seem skeptical, but he’ll eventually ask Adam what he’d do in his shoes.

Adam will reply that he’d burn it all down to the ground and will push Ashland to hit Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) where it hurts: in his business.

Ashland will be looking for something more personal and will hint about Victoria mattering more to Victor.

After leaving Adam with plausible deniability, Ashland will make it clear that they aren’t working together and kick him out.

Adam’s apparent fishing expedition will leave him looking pensive as he steps outside Ashland’s hotel suite.

At Society again, Victoria and Nick will seem suspicious after finding Nikki, Phyllis and Ashley together.

Phyllis will lie about the three of them working on a beautification project and take off along with Ashley.

Nikki will get updates on the Sally reversal, so she’ll trust Victoria’s judgement and head out for a meeting.

That’ll leave Victoria to worry about Adam, who could be even more unstable following this Sally breakup and lash out in some way.

Nick will admit that keeping Sally on was the right call in his opinion.

As for Adam, Nick will suspect his brother broke up with Sally just to save her job.

Victoria will scoff at the idea of Adam actually doing something noble, but Nick will argue that it wouldn’t be the first time.

Once Adam makes it to Victoria’s office, he’ll realize she’s not there and pull up her number on his phone.

When Sally suddenly calls, Adam will let it go to voicemail.

Sally will leave a message about meaning what she said before.

If Adam only broke up with Sally so she could keep the CEO title, she’ll maintain that she doesn’t want the job.

After Sally demands the truth, she’ll disconnect and look at a framed photo of herself with Adam.

Meanwhile, Adam will listen to Sally’s voicemail and let out a sigh.
