The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap review for the week of October 24-28 reveals that Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Summer Newman-Abbott (Allison Lanier) were given the calm before the storm while Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) faced a sad shocker.
First, let’s talk about Summer and Kyle’s trip to Costa Rica, which started out as a honeymoon and turned into a family vacation with Harrison Abbott (Kellen Enriquez).
As usual, Kyle and Summer had some sweet scenes to show that they’re the perfect couple and parents.
Although Summer and Kyle are quite cute together – especially with little Harrison between them – it’s time for them to get some meaty Y&R material.
Allison Lanier hasn’t had a chance to do much beyond the fluffy stuff since she took over the role of Summer.
It’s fine for Kyle and Summer to be a mature couple that doesn’t get bogged down by typical issues.
That’s actually pretty refreshing most days, but Summer and Kyle still need to experience some conflict and soapy setbacks.
Fortunately, November sweeps point to Kyle and Summer finally landing on opposing sides.
All the Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) feuding will start to take a toll, so this Costa Rica trip really was the calm before the Genoa City storm!
While we wait for Kyle and Summer to get their chance at drama, we should discuss Chelsea’s heartbreaking path.
Although it was difficult to watch Chelsea in so much pain, it’s good that the show’s really diving into her mental health issues now.
Chelsea’s story lacked direction for a while, but now it’s becoming one about a devastated woman who needs serious help.
The fact that Chelsea wants to take her own life on that rooftop means she’s hitting rock bottom, but this can hopefully serve as a turning point in her journey to get better.
The show is also positioning Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) to grow closer to Chelsea as her hero, so it’s nice to see some story movement and have a better idea of where things seem to be headed next.
