The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that an exciting preview offers a first look at the new Ashland Locke, so let’s talk about Robert Newman’s debut as a recast. Newman will make his first appearance on Wednesday, February 9, so it won’t be long until Ashland has a brand-new face.
In the promo clip, Robert Newman can be seen walking into Society and jokingly realizing he’s not in Springfield anymore.
“In fact, I’m coming to Genoa City, and I’ll see you on Wednesday,” Newman says with a sly smile.
Of course, the Springfield comment is referring to when Newman played Josh Lewis on Guiding Light.
Now Newman is returning to CBS’ daytime lineup as an Ashland recast, so soap fans will hopefully give him a warm welcome.
Richard Burgi was forced out at Y&R due to inadvertently violating their COVID-19 protocol, so the show turned to Newman as their new Ashland Locke.
Sometimes behind-the-scenes issues lead to recasts – and that’s just the way things go!
It’s better to just accept Newman’s imminent arrival and give him a fair chance.
Although it always takes a little time to get used to someone new, this preview certainly offers hope that Newman will get the job done right.
Newman will no doubt put his own spin on Ashland, but he gives off a similar vibe of swagger and power – at least based on this glimpse.
Viewers will be able to get a better sense of what Newman’s version of Ashland Locke will be like once his debut episode hits the air.
Again, Robert Newman will first appear on Wednesday, February 9.
That’s when Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) will put Ashland through a grilling session about his true ties to that suspicious clinic in Peru.
Ashland will come up with excuses to explain why he’s funding that clinic and never told anyone.
Ashland will act like he became a benefactor long before he ever got sick, but Victor will suspect Ashland is just piling on the lies!
Newman is taking over just in time for the looming big reveal, which should expose Ashland’s lung cancer as a scam.
