Tonight’s episode begins with Rebecca packing and Miguel and Nicky too. They are going on a road trip. Meanwhile, we see Deja and she is on a bus going to see Malik. In the car, Nicky is rehearsing what he is going to say to Sally when he sees her. Then he tells them they have to make a stop, his mother always told him not to go to see someone and go empty-handed. The three look happy and start singing “Hooked On A Feeling” in the car. Rebecca starts thinking back to when she was driving in a convertible with Jack and they were singing the same song.
At Malik’s apartment, Janelle’s mother comes to pick her up, it’s awkward. Once Janelle and her mother are gone, Deja tells Malik that he looks exhausted. He says this place is no joke, he knew it would be hard, but it is on a whole other level. He studies all the time, and scholarships don’t cover food, and Janelle doesn’t help out. Deja tells him to go do his homework now while they are alone, it is quiet.
The three of them stop at what looks like an antique shop, Nicky is interested in a vintage camera and gets upset when he feels it is too expensive at ninety dollars. Nicky tells them that he wants to go home, Rebecca buys the camera for seventy dollars. Then, Nicky tells them that he didn’t reach out to Sally to say that he was coming. In fact, he found her on Facebook and he is not even sure it is her. Rebecca and Miguel tell him they are twenty minutes away and they are going no matter what at this point.
Nicky rings the bell, camera in hand – it is her. Nicky tries to back out and Rebecca won’t let him. Rebecca tells her that she crossed paths with Nicky thirty years ago when she was on the way to Woodstock, she was taking pictures. She says, hello Nicky. They go inside and enjoy some beverages while they chat, she tells Nicky that photography became more of a hobby. Sally’s husband comes into the room, she introduces him to everyone. Sally invites them for dinner, Rebecca says they don’t want to impose, but after a little encouragement, they stay.
At dinner, Sally asks about Jack, Nicky says he passed away. Sally asked where they met, Nicky remembers everything, even having sex with her and saying she was his first, in front of her husband. Rebecca starts to reminisce back to being with Jack, they are sitting on the hood of the convertible. Back to the dinner, Rebecca says she has Alzheimer’s, no amount of medication or exercise will help her. Sometimes she thinks about what her very last memory will be before the candle goes out. Sally says she is sorry. Rebecca tells her not to worry about it, she didn’t know. Then Rebecca says she doesn’t understand why she worries about the small things and they all share how they all think about small things. Nicky says he has always thought about Sally and it got him through, a reason to hope that something good might happen to him, maybe it was meant to lead up to this, the most awkward dinner ever, but not a waste of time. Sally says she regrets buying their satellite, when they got it, it became her husband’s retreat. And now, they do everything separately. Her husband tells her she shouldn’t air her laundry in front of strangers, she says Nicky is not a stranger, he is a friend who has been pining over her for fifty years and her husband treats her like a line cook. And, she has known Nicky longer than she has known him.
Rebecca and Sally go talk. Sally says she stopped taking pictures of herself. Rebecca talks to her about the salsa lessons that she took with Miguel and this one time they were dancing and there was this young girl in a pink dress and she was pointing at her like she was brave to dance at her age, she never danced again.
Malik and Deja are out dancing, she tells him that she is ready, she wants to go back to his place. Malik clues into what she is ready for and they bounce. At his apartment, they get changed, Deja looks nervous, she says her heart is beating so fast. He takes off his shirt and puts her hand on his chest.
They are getting ready to leave and Nicky grabs a photo of Sally before they do. He walks over to a corkboard she has in a room and grabs another photo from the wall, but puts it back after seeing that it is him with her when they were younger. Rebecca and Miguel go to the car so Nicky can say goodbye. He tells her that his photo is on the wall, then he says it is a full moon and kisses her on the cheek and tells her he will see her in fifty years, she says she will save the date.
Rebecca tells Miguel that he didn’t get the best version of her, she is sorry. He says in sickness and in health. He gives her a gift, he bought her a broach at the antique store of two parrots. He tells her they have a journey ahead of them, but he is up to the task and will be amazing for her every step of the way, they are going to do this together. She tells him she wants to salsa dance again. Then, Nicky joins them in the car and tells them it is time for him to go back east.
They are back home, Nicky packed up and he is leaving. Before leaving he says his brother would have been happy that the two of them found each other.
Then we see Deja, she is on a bus, heading back home, she looks at a phone of her and Malik on her phone and then her dad texts her and asks how breakfast at Tiffany’s was, she says life-changing.
Rebecca and Miguel are salsa dancing.
Fast forward, we see an older Randall, an older Deja arrives, and Edie asks how his mom is doing and he says not good. Edie walks up to Nicky who is near the door and tells him that she missed him.
