In tonight’s 1000-lb Sisters episode, someone broke into Tammy’s place. They stole a bunch of her stuff. They’ve left her with nothing but a broken door and now there’s nothing to come home to. They literally stole a dresser with her clothes in it. They took out sinks. They took the water heater.
They took whatever electronics they could find and Tammy’s family dreaded telling her about this because they knew it would set Tammy back. Tammy has what many call an attitude problem. She wants to lose weight without doing any of the work. She wants to continue a successful YouTube career by barely working. And she wants a successful relationship with abusers/enablers.
The main problem with Tammy’s YouTube career was that she did those videos with her sister, Amy. Amy was too nice. She was always willing to do the videos. She understands that it brings in profit. She was easy to work with and she was prompt. Tammy however was stubborn. She was angry. She couldn’t work with anyone. She would sometimes pick a fight for no reason other than she hates how she feels and she wanted to punish someone else for it. Tammy self-destructs more often than she allows anyone to help her.
Tammy did that with her weight for the longest. She refused to do the exercises or eat the right foods. She would date men she knew would enable her. She would go on drinking binges. She had no self-control. She ended up in her current treatment center because she was killing herself with her out-of-control behavior. Tammy even managed to gain weight there. The second she did that, she shut down with literally everything else. She stopped being cooperative in therapy. She was mean to everyone. And that an attitude problem was on full display.
Tammy had better luck this week because she went back to losing weight. She was finally within a couple of pounds of her goal weight and all Tammy could think about was how she was going to mess up. Mind you this was before she was told about her place being robbed. The others were too worried about what it could do to Tammy that they tried to protect her as much as possible and that wasn’t really helping. Not like how they helped Chris. Chris needed to lose a few more pounds before he qualified for skin removal surgery. And so they built an optical course for him.
The family even pushed him to finish it. They knew they couldn’t do the same because Tammy might complain about not feeling well or not being supported or that they were out to get her. Tammy likes to claim that it was her family that gave up on her losing weight. Only she gave up on it first. She gave up. She resented anyone who mentioned her weight. She caught an attitude with them and again she was just plain mean. Things were different now because she was finally losing weight.
Tammy took that as a positive step. It just didn’t change her behavior with any of the people that cared about her. She was difficult to work with when Amy tried to do YouTube videos with her. It was difficult for her other sisters when they showed up at the rehab to see her. She was constantly biting their heads off and it got to the point where they didn’t know how to break the bad news to her. They eventually tried to say it as softly as possible. They said grandma’s blanket was gone and they told her that they had other blankets to give her. They said they help her get some more furniture. And that they could go shopping for everything else.
Only Tammy took the news rather well. She said it is what is. She said she’s been losing so much weight lately that her old clothes weren’t going to fit anyways and so she was fine with shopping for some new clothes. It was as if Tammy had a sudden shift in personality. She was less pessimistic. She was happy about her weight. She even weighed herself again in front of her sisters so that they could see how well she was doing. Tammy went from being mean to suddenly being nice and everyone was too relieved to say anything else negative. They hadn’t even mentioned what happened with Amy.
Amy was eight months pregnant with her second child. She began feeling cramps. It seems her gastric sleeve had popped and so the doctors dealt with that before it could hurt Amy’s health or that of her baby. Amy was now fine. Her baby was alright. But Misty and Amanda had thought that was too much to hit Tammy with. They kept quiet on that and they saw for themselves that Tammy had finally reached her goal weight. Tammy can now qualify for surgery. Or she would have if she had followed through on her therapy sessions.
And so Tammy still has some work to do.
