In tonight’s 90-Day Fiance episode, Poor Yohan. Yohan got with an American older woman because yeah, she was beautiful and smart. But she was also his ticket to the United States. Danielle failed to see that was part of her attraction and so he committed a serious mistake in her relationship with Yohan. She assumed she’d be enough for him. She lied to him about starting a K-1 visa.

She promised she would bring him to the States so that they could live together. She never mentioned that it was part of her plan to move to the Dominican Republic until she had already packed up her life in New York and made the move. She didn’t even do this when they were dating. She did this after they had gotten married and Yohan started learning English to prepare for his new life in the States.

Danielle has no idea what it means to live in the Dominican Republic. She visited on vacation. She’s stayed in hotels. She doesn’t even stay at Yohan’s family place because it was a little crowded and they didn’t have AC there. She only knows the best of the DR.

She fails to understand that moving down there is going to be a different story. She was no longer going to be just on vacation. She’ll have to adjust to the laws down there as well as treat her husband differently now that he holds the power in the relationship. If she had brought him to the States, it would be a reversal.

Yohan would have to stay on her good side. He wouldn’t be allowed to work until he got a green card and so she would be the breadwinner. They would be staying at her apartment. He wouldn’t know anyone there. It will take him time to build up his own community.

He would have to rely on her for pretty much everything if she had gone through with filing that K-1 visa. Now, the power was all on his side. She doesn’t know anyone down there besides him and his family. She thankfully knew the language but day in and day out being isolated while he goes out to work was hard on anyone and she might not last in the Dominican Republic.

Nicole was new to this season of “The Other Way”. She was thirty-eight and she met her twenty-six-year-old fiancé Mahmud when she went on a vacation to Egypt and met him on the last day of the trip. They quickly developed a connection. He asked her to be his wife on that first day. Which tempted her to stay in Egypt. She ultimately decided to go back to the States and the two started dating long-distance. However, Nicole tried moving to Egypt. She was there for two months when the culture clash got to her and she went running back to the States.

Only Nicole wanted to go back. She wanted to try and save the relationship. She shocked her friends when she said she was going back because they thought she would stay separated and so her trying Egypt again didn’t seem like a great idea to them. It was clear they wanted to talk her out of it. They reminded her that she couldn’t take living in a foreign country the first time. She could visit Egypt. She just couldn’t live in Egypt. It was particularly hard for Americans to give up certain rights when they moved to a foreign country. Like freedom of speech, dress, and movement.

Those things are hard on whichever person in a couple was doing it. But Gabriel seems to have trial run it before he moved to Colombia to be with his girlfriend. Gabe visits Colombia so many times that he now has to get married right away or he risks using up all his days in Colombia. An American was only allowed a six month visa to visit Colombia. Gabe used most of those days already and so he has to get married or he risks getting deported back to the States. Gabe was taking a huge risk by getting married so quickly. Except he wants to do it.

Gabe felt he knew everything he needed to know about Isabel. He’s visited so many times that he didn’t think it would be hard to live full-time with her and her two kids. The only thing he was worried about was Isabel’s family. She was pretty close with her parents. They helped her get out of a bad relationship. She told them everything. She just didn’t tell them that Gabe was trans. Gabe has been on male testosterone for so long that he doesn’t appear feminine in any way. He has muscles. He’s even had his bottom half surgery. Gabe was man. He was a man to Isabel and yet she hasn’t told her parents that he’s trans.

Jen was dealing with a similar situation in terms of secrets. She was engaged to Rishi. She was moving to India to be with him and he still hasn’t told his family that he was engaged. Jen told her family about that tonight. They thought it was odd because they were hearing stories that Rishi was really close with his family. He was the sole breadwinner for his mom and brothers. He works as a trainer and model over there. It’s why he couldn’t move to the States to be with Jen. Jen was fine with that last part, but it was going to be hard to move over there and to be addressed as Rishi’s “friend” by his family.

It was apparently against Rishi’s culture to marry a non-Indian woman for love. They still have arranged marriages in India and so marrying for love was a huge step much less marrying an outsider. Rishi didn’t want to risk alienating his family by telling them about Jen. He told Jen that he was going to break it to them slowly. Jen, on her part, didn’t want to push Rishi into doing anything because she tried that in the past with other relationships and they’ve all failed. She now wants to be patient with Rishi because of those previous relationships. It’s why she’s tolerating being known as his friend. Its also why she’s moving to India because she was hoping to get his family used to her before any announcement.

Kris didn’t have to worry about that. Her girlfriend Jeymi has ditched everyone that would be against her being in a lesbian relationship and she moved to a whole other country where it’s more acceptable. So, that makes it easier on Kris. Both women have never been in lesbian relationships before. They tried being with men because they thought that was what was expected of them. Only they weren’t happy in those past relationships. It’s why none of them ever worked. Then they met each other online and it all seemed to fit. Kris’s kids were now adults. She doesn’t have to worry as much about them and so now was finally the time to pursue her own interests. And that’s what she’s doing by moving to be with Jeymi.

But there’s a saying that says see me and come live with me are two different things. People tend to be on their best behavior in front of guests. Not so much with a spouse. A spouse gets to see everything. They see all one’s good sides and bad sides. Nicole’s move to Egypt didn’t work the first time because she was arguing all the time with Mahmud. Mahmud waited until they were married before he told her that he doesn’t want her around other men or in certain clothes and that this and that was against his religion. It was like he was a whole other person from the one that wooed her on their first date.

Nicole quickly returned to the States once she realized she couldn’t live with her husband. She told him that she wanted a divorce and she blocked him everywhere. Then time goes by. She mellows. She starts believing that no one has ever loved her as much as Mahmud and so she gets back into contact with him. She now wants to return to save her marriage but did Mahmud really change or did time and distance give Nicole a distorted view of how supposedly good they were together? Danielle thought her marriage could take it if she moved to the Dominican Republic and then she had to take in what that would actually mean.

They needed a new place to live because Yohan’s place was small as well as without AC. They couldn’t rely on Yohan’s business because his butcher shop looked really unsanitary and he seemed to resent any feedback that Danielle tried to give him. She thought she was helping. He saw it as criticism. Danielle asked him why did he have all the meat out on the counter. She warned him that they needed to be refrigerated. She warned him that no one would buy meat with flies all over them. He hated that look of disgust on her face as she looked over his shop. And she wanted to see everything.

Danielle even wanted to see the receipts from the meat distributor. Danielle had her own business back in the States and she thought she could help her husband fine-tune his own business. Danielle didn’t ask her husband if he wanted her advice on the business. She just assumed. She did that and she angered her husband. He got upset with all the questions. He decided to be pigheaded about some of the answers he was giving her. Which in turn made her angry. She especially got angry when it looked like Yohan was struggling with basic math.

His account books weren’t matching. His expenses are too high and his profits too low. Danielle made a spreadsheet to prove that some things needed to change. But Yohan said the business was still new. He couldn’t explain where he got his startup cash from and that made Danielle fear she was his sugar momma. Yohan on the other hand didn’t feel supported by his wife. He felt she should have simply trusted him when he said he had everything figured out. He felt she shouldn’t have made the spreadsheet to tell him his business was failing. And nothing seemed to help as they got angrier and angrier with each other.

And speaking of anger, Jen’s friends decided to test Rishi to see if he’s been faithful to Jen. Jen went along with it because she figured if he had nothing to hide that he wouldn’t get mad about it and so her friend sent Rishi some DMS over social media. She pretended to be a fan of his that liked his pictures. She claimed she was living in London. She didn’t get Rishi on anything explicit, but he did respond a couple of times to her and so that made Jen’s friends suspicious. She told Jen that Rishi was using her and she begged her to end the relationship.

THE END!
