Platinum Ticket winners handpick their duet partners and rejoin the competition in hopes of making it through to the next round.”

Tonight’s American Idol episode begins with the duets, Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie are back in the judging chairs. The contestants had to pick their own duet partners, but the platinum ticket holders got to pick theirs first.

Elijah McCormick picks Lucy Love and she is thrilled to be picked by a platinum ticket holder. They are up and the first ones to perform. They call themselves the Dunamis Duo and are singing, “My Girl,” by the Temptations.

The judges loved it, Katy says she never heard My Girl like that, that was like My Woman, they were dancing and in the vibe. They are going to the next round.

Nutsa and Carina Deangelo are paired and Nutsa went to bed and wouldn’t stay up ate to practice, Carina is frustrated, she tells one of the staff that she is pissed off. Nutsa returns and they practice past 3am. Carina is not happy with the arrangement, she finds that Nutsa is making it show off her voice only, she is happy but Carina is not happy with the rendition, she doesn’t want to go home.

They show up for their duet and not only did they not agree on the arrangement, but they also didn’t agree on style. In front of the judges, Carina tells them that Nutsa went to sleep while she wanted to keep practicing. They call themselves The Jet Setters, they are singing, “I Put a Spell On You.”

Lionel says they have two completely different styles, they felt the tension and the performance was underwhelming. Katy says the energy was broken and they are better than that performance. In the end, Lionel says it was tough, Carina is sent home, Nutsa is keeping her only because she has a strong voice. Katy tells her not to forget about grace, more grace.

Elise Kristine and Matt Wilson call themselves the Chocolate Vanilla Swirl and they are singing, ‘You Are The Reason.”

Luke tells Matt that he is one of his favourite voices, it is smooth. Katy says he is soaring now. Lionel says Elise’s tones are crazy. Good news, they are making it to the next round.

Hannah Nicolaisen and Warren Peay call themselves Blue Bonnet and they are singing, “Its Your Love.”

Luke says he could see the magic in that performance, they took a classic and made it their own. They make it through to the next round.

Issac Brown and Zachariah Smith call themselves the Baby Roll Boys are having a hard time, they can’t remember the words. Zachariah breaks down, there is a lot on the line. It is time to perform, they are singing, “I’m Still Standing.” Katy sees them with their phones, Isaac says he needs to use his phone for the lyrics and Lionel says they are going to have a problem. They wing it without the cell phones, but forget so many of the words, the judges cheer them on, stand up and try to encourage them to go for it.

Both men look devastated. Lionel says they are now eliminating great talent. They both make it through. Lionel says that was a classic case of team work. Katy tells Zachariah to bring his vocals next time like no other time. Both are very grateful.

Tyson Venegas and Kaylin Hedges call themselves The Shenanigans, they are two platinum ticket holders and they singing, “Don’t Stop Me Now,” by Queen.

Lionel says he never knew the two of them coulee have complimented each other so well, full on amazing. They have decided, they are both going through.

Jon Wayne Hatfield and Preston Duffee call themselves The Camp Cousins and they have become legit friends. They are singing, “Buy Dirt,” by Jordan Davis and Luke Bryan.

Luke says it is his sixth year in this chair, but never seen such a strong duo. It’s not an easy decision, but John Wayne its the end of the line, Preston is going through to the next round. Luke tells them to stay buddies.

Oliver Steele and Iam Tongi have a lot in common, they both are inspired for their dads. Just before the performance, Iam’s guitar breaks, the one his father gave him. Without it, he is not feeling confident. They call themselves Kindred Spirits and they are singing, “Save Your Tears,” by The Weeknd.

Luke loves what they bring to the table, an innocent soul. They make it through to the next round.

Jayna Elise, Adin Boyer and Summer joy are a trio, there was an odd number and the three grouped together. They choose to sing, “I’m Still Standing,” by Elton John.

Katy says it was the holy trinity. Lionel say there was so much confidence. They all make it through.

We And and Pjae are The Cryptics and they singing, “Hit ‘Em up Stule,” by Blue Cantrell with a twist.

Katy says they never had this much fun watching a duet, they were so in synch, they were one, they should have been paying money to see that. They are going to the next round.

Next up is the final platinum ticket winner Cam Amen with J Valerione, but they have a tough journey when J leaves the competition, but returns in the morning and asks Cam to do the duet together. They are singing, “Listen To The Music.”

They both make it through to the next round, they pulled it through.

Kayla Stewart and Fire have a great start, but overnight things took a worse turn for Kayla, she gets sick with fever. They arrive on stage and Kayla tells the judges she is not singing and leaving the competition. Fire is trying to hold it together, she says it is disappointing, she learned a whole new arrangement. Katy turns to the contestants and asks who wants to sing with Fire and Jayna Elise gets up and runs to the stage. Lionel tells Fire she’s got this. Katy tells her that she is not going to be abandoned any more.

Katy tells Fire that she is proud of her, she is growing little by little, she can control her future. She thanks her for staying and not for forfeiting, and she is going forward. Lionel says they love her.
