In tonight’s American Ninja Warrior episode, it was a family affair on tonight’s episode. There were mothers and daughters, husband and wives, and a pair of brothers. Up first was Caitlyn Bergstrom-Wright. She was a part of the ninja family known as the Bergstroms. Her dad was a ninja. Her brother was a ninja. She herself was a ninja. She was known as one of the “Baby Bergstroms” and that’s how she came to meet her husband. Caitlyn was now married to David Bergstrom-Wright. He hyphenated his name as well. He was also known as the Cake Ninja. They met during Stage 2 on season twelve. They began dating long-distance and they eventually got married. Her husband even gave her a cupcake before her run.

Cake may have been his signature thing, but he wanted to give Caitlyn some of that sugar strength and it even worked. Caitlyn had a great run. One of the best in her ninja career. She was the first to try out the newest obstacle known as the Cubes and, while she fell on that obstacle, she has great odds of going into the next round because the Cubes were in fact the fifth obstacle. Next up were the Garemore brothers. Roberto and Nacssa were teenagers. They were born in Africa and adopted by an American family as kids. And Ninja became something to do with their loved ones.

The whole family watches ninja together. Roberto had his run first. He pulled off a daring rescue and he fell on the Kite obstacle. Only Roberto himself said that his brother Nacssa was the better ninja. Nacssa went on to prove he was just that by speeding through the course and being the first to make it past the Cubes. He went on to become the first finisher of the night. He didn’t do it under a minutes and twenty seconds and so he didn’t get a chance to go after the Mega Warped wall only he was still a kid. There was plenty of time for that extra ten grand.

David Bergstrom-Wright had his run after the commercial break. He had some cupcakes. He had a great run thanks to that and he finished with the fastest time. He had the chance to go after the Mega Warped Wall, but he fell just a little too short for the reward. David didn’t seem to mind though. He has the fastest time. That alone guarantees him a spot in the next round and he was happy with that. Then there was Ginny MacColl. She was the mother of Jessie Graff. Jessie was one of the leading female ninjas. And that’s how Ginny got interested in it.

Ginny was in her seventies when she first began working at the ninja gym with her daughter. She now wants to have her run and she did surprisingly well for someone so new to it. She made it to a tricky obstacle where she got caught. She couldn’t dismount and so she fell. Just not before proving she was an age-defying ninja. Next up was Elijah Browning. His nickname is “the Boss”. He was a teenage entrepreneur and he was back with a vengeance after failing to qualify for Stage 2 last year. He was the third finisher of the night after tackling the Cubes.

The Cubes seemed to be taking down some of the best ninjas. But Jessie Graff was hoping to beat it. She had her run not long after Elijah. She made it further than her own mom on the course. She got it as far as the Cubes when unfortunately it took her down. Like so many before her. It was a really hard obstacle. It came through the ANW obstacle design challenge. The girl that made it was only nine and so she might be the fiercest ninja in the next several years. Brandon Mears went next. He was known as one half of the “Towers of Power”.

Brandon was a veteran ninja as well as Chicago firefighter. He wanted this season to be his last ride and it sadly ended much too soon. He fell on the second obstacle after struggling for a while. He still remains one of the greats but now it’s time for the kids to shine. Next up was RJ Roman. He was known as “the Rocker”. He was a heavy metal musician that never fails to make it to at least Stage 1. He even made it as far as Stage 3 once and he was hoping to do so again this season. He finished with the fastest time this season.

The hosts joked he should have gotten a ticket for being so fast. He joked back that that’s where all the money from the Mega Warped Wall went last season and so he tried to get some extra cash tonight by going after the Mega. He got close only he didn’t make it this year. They raised the height by six inches this year. It was tripping people up and before long it was time for the Runoffs. There was a race between the guys that ended with Jason Grossman moving onto the next round. And with the women, it actually ended up being a race between girls.

Two teenage girls ran into the Runoffs. The winner of that race was Jalessa Himka. And she will be joining the top four female ninjas tonight.

THE END!
