Big Brother 25 (BB25) spoilers tease that the milestone season will be one to remember. Ahead of the milestone 25th season, Julie Chen ponders her exit and shares how she will know when to step down as host.
Julie said she takes one season at a time and tries her best to enjoy the ride. Often, she considers leaving as host at the end of the season, only to count the days until the next start the following summer.
“I think there would have to be a few things [to make me step away], like if I feel like the public is getting tired of me or the show is not what I want it to be.
But with [executive producers] Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan leading the way, I can’t imagine it ever being something that I feel is not in alignment with me or what the show should be in my mind,” Chen explained.
“I think you know when it’s time to go, whether as a show or me as a host, and I just don’t see signs of that right now,” Julie continued. “But you just never know.”
In 2018, Julie Chen drew online controversy when she added her husband’s last name to hers during a live broadcast.
It was amid a woman accusing her husband of sexual harassment many years prior. Social media threw her under the bus, and Chen considered leaving the Big Brother show.
Eventually, the BB fans stopped talking about Chen adding Moonves to her name and stopped trashing her for supporting her husband, Les Moonves.
Another exciting thing Julie revealed in her interview was that she wasn’t the first choice as host for Big Brother.
Apparently, CBS really wanted Meredith Vieira to join as the host, but she declined. She was in talks to be the daytime host of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.
Big Brother 25 viewers can rest assured. It sounds like Julie Chen will stick around as the host of the summer reality show for years to come.
BB25 fans, would you watch the reality show if Julie Chen exited the series? Big Brother 25 premieres on Wednesday, August 2, on CBS.
