In tonight’s Chicago Fire episode, Carver was out of jail. Kidd bailed him out. She also called Chief Boden in. She told him that Carver was protecting her against a stalker which the police misinterpreted as him being aggressive with the guy. They saw him punching Shep. They didn’t see Shep assaulting him or trying to break into Kidd’s apartment.

They arrested Carver. His friends got him out and they were hoping to keep this from Internal Affairs. Carver could lose his job if this assault charge pans out. Kidd and Boden planned on getting the best lawyer for Carver. And they wanted to get the charges dismissed before IAD even hears a hint about it.

It was hard to keep a secret however when Capp was around. Capp acted like a town crier. He tried telling everyone at the firehouse about Carver’s arrest and they had to tell him that it was supposed to be a secret.

The others had found out what happened in a group text. Capp wasn’t a part of that group text and so he found out about it after he realized they all knew about Carver’s arrest before he did. He was there the whole time. They didn’t talk about it out in the open. Capp likes to play the dumb when really he could be a mastermind.

Capp figured out early on that they were on a group chat. He then waited and watched. He saw the moment that they were all getting texts. He came right out to ask them about it.

They ended up confessing. They felt bad and they soon regretted feeling bad. The truth is they didn’t tell Capp about it was because they knew he’d bring his sense of “humor” to it. They made the mistake of including him in the group chat. Capp’s first instinct wasn’t to be read in on the gossip. His first instinct was to check who had been a part of the group chat and see who had been excluding him.

Capp’s second instinct was to start sending either spam or sexist memes about lady firefighters. Cruz left the group chat first. He didn’t want to put up with Capp’s supposed humor. The others soon followed. They were all trying to find the best way possible to explain why they left when Carver got suspended. The Assistant State Attorney that got his case had gone running CFD. He told IAD about Carver’s arrest. Carver was immediately suspended. He had to collect his things from his locker and be escorted out of the building according to policy.

Kidd promised Carver that she would get the suspension lifted. She has the lawyer that their union sent. She was going to get the lawyer to work his case and Carver told her that he didn’t want to wait around for someone to possibly get his job back. He wanted to get justice for himself. Carver tried going to IAD. He tried to explain to them what really happened only their hands were tied as long as he was under investigation. Even Kidd tried to do something. She sought out Shep. She tried to get Shep to drop the charges and he was in no condition to do so.

Shep wasn’t doing well on the streets. He was dehydrated, confused, and paranoid. He thought what happened was that Kidd sent out her boyfriend to beat him up. Kidd knew that he wouldn’t be a good witness to drop the charges after that. She instead focused on getting him off the streets and back on his medication. She tried to put her faith in the lawyer. Only the lawyer later told them that it didn’t look good that Carver had a record. Carver has gotten swept in two other bar fights. The ASA also didn’t think it look good that a firefighter was seen beating on a mentally ill homeless man.

They were coming after Carver with everything they have. They wanted to charge him with a felony. There was nothing they could do about it and the others suspected they knew how IAD found out about Carver. Mind you they didn’t know the ASA ratted out Carver. They just saw a mystery phone number in the group chat and assumed the worst. They didn’t know who the number belonged to until they called it. It was Chief Boden’s number. Mouch had included him in the group chat because he thought it would be unfair to exclude him. And Mouch said as much, but everyone was freaking out because they didn’t know that their boss was seeing all the gossiping they’ve been doing.

Or the razzing they’ve been giving each other. They now wanted out of that group chat more than ever and they left. The one thing that wasn’t in the group chat was Brett’s news. Brett was hoping to adopt the baby that was left at their firehouse. The baby was currently at a foster home with good people. They just didn’t weren’t to adopt so late in their lives. They were going to be her stop-game while DCFS looked for permanent placing. Brett visited the little girl at their home. They saw how much she wants her and they told her how she could fast-track an adoption.

Kidd also got Shep into a nice facility. He later dropped the charges against Carver in thanks. Carver was reinstated and he could return to work whenever its convenient.

And Boden was worried he did something when he stopped getting group chat messages, but they reassured him they would help him fix the problem. And they all rejoined the group chat.

THE END!
