In tonight’s Chicago PD recap, Dante Torres went out with Ruzek. They played poker with a bunch of cops. Torres went all in on a bad hand and he lost. Ruzek asked him if he intentionally threw the game, but Torres was denying that he did and he was leaving when Ruzek offered to give him a ride home. So Torres accepted the ride.

They got into a car together and it wasn’t long until they heard on their radio that there was a house alarm that went off. The two detectives responded to the crime. They walked in to find the husband and wife tied up. It seems the wife was raped and the husband was forced to watch. And the thieves also cleared out the safe.

The thieves were out of the house by the time the police came. Meaning they were fast and they were organized. They knew how to escape within moments of setting off the alarm. Torres and Ruzek brought this case back to Voight at Intelligence. They heard there were similar cases that the Robbery Division was working on. the detective on the official case was a friend of Ruzek’s.

He was willing to share intel. He said on the last robbery this crew pulled off – they threatened to rape a sixteen-year-old girl. Now, said some of his CIs have reported seeing some of the stolen items at a pawn shop. And so all three detectives went to a pawn shop afterward.

They found some stolen watches. They asked about them and they out about the crew. They even determined what car they were using. The car was later found outside of another heist. But this time they graduated to murder. The wife was raped before she was killed. The husband was killed around the same time as well. Neighbors overheard arguing.

Only it couldn’t have come from the couple. It had to have come from the crew. They were turning on each other and that’s why things escalated at that house. The detectives had spotted one man fleeing the scene and chased after him, but he got away and Ruzek’s friend managed to rough up a perfectly innocent man.

The innocent man’s name was Alex. Alex didn’t see anything. But Torres questioned him about his injuries. The injuries didn’t match up with his story. How could he fall down the steps and not leave any blood on the steps or not have scratches on his hands? Torres believed that Alex was handcuffed while Detective Borkowski worked him over.

Only Borkowski found out he questioned Alex and he told him to back off. Not that Torres did so. Torres took his concerns to Ruzek and they tried to map out what happened that day. They found Borkowski in the wrong alley he claimed he was in and Alex had also been wrong. Alex saw the perp running away.

Ruzek and Torres went back to the hospital to visit Alex. Alex admitted that Borkowski did beat him up and he said that they made a deal. Alex wouldn’t report Borkowski and Borkowski wouldn’t arrest him for drug possession. Torres understood Alex’s motivations. He and Ruzek decided to let him keep his deal with Borkowski while they kept pursuing this case. They caught one of them pulling the heist. But he wasn’t their rapist. He was actually against that and yet he still didn’t want to rat his friend out to the cops. And so the cops looked into known felons he hangs out with and they found someone matching the rapist’s description.

They went to that man’s house. They found tracker fobs. It’s probably how they were able to track down their victims. They put a fob in their expensive car and used that to follow them home. Apparently, the thieves wanted the victims to be at home. They wanted to use them to open up the safes. The rapist also had his own reason for wanting the women to be at home. There was one such fob currently being used. They went to the house matching the fob. They were seen at the front door and shot at. Their perp had a female hostage inside. He was threatening to kill her if the cops came in and so the cops had to come in using the back door.

They got into the house. Torres and Borkowski shot and took down their perp, but there was a moment afterward when Borkowski threatened to get Torres fired if he ever dared to report him over what happened to Alex. But Torres didn’t report him. He had the chance and chose not to take it. He felt so bad about that later that he grabbed drinks with Ruzek. And he complained about how he’s now part of the Blue Wall.

THE END!
