Tonight’s CSI: Vegas episode begins with a Man pushing a shopping cart, its dark outside, he is dressed in a suit and tie, wearing gloves and writes a note, staples it to the victim’s shirt in the cart that has the name Molly Tate. He pushes the cart and walks away.
Maxine is putting her suitcase in the car, her son is with her, they look around and her ex is there. Daniel tells her he is worried about them, they are still a family and he is not going anywhere until they are safe. Maxine walks away and says she cannot do this.
Allie, Josh and Serna are on the scene. There is no blood, no trauma. On the card with Molly’s name, the killer left a finger print, it is Ronald Winter, Catherine says his wanted poster is going to look like an Armani ad. Ron had a troubled youth, and he has an IQ of 160. Sonya is ready to walk them through Molly’s autopsy, they head out.
Sonya was up all night doing the autopsy, she still can’t say what killed her but signs are pointing to her having been poisoned, like she was forced to swallow something. She had extensive bleeding in her large intestine. All of a sudden, Sonya looks like she doesn’t feel well. She is about to pass out and Maxine grabs her. Her heart is racing, Sonya yells to seal off the morgue, Molly is a Trojan horse. That’s why he dumped her, he is using Molly’s body to poison all of them. Sonya is in distress, she says whatever killed Molly is killing her.
Sonya is at the hospital, Josh is worried the team can be infected but Maxine says no, none of them touched Molly’s body. Maxine says she is going to go see Catherine, they are going to talk to Ted Hester. Josh is worried Ted put Maxine in the crosshairs.
Ted says Ron is pretty smart, if he doesn’t want to be found, he won’t be. Ted reminds them that he had a perfect way to find serial killers and they stopped him. He wants privacy and a Play Station 5 and he will help them. Maxine tells Ted that if he gives her his user name, she will see what she can do about getting him a private cell. He says he doesn’t negotiate with Terrorists.
Allie and Jack suit up and go back int he morgue, they are listening to Sonya’s recorded notes. Sonya hit a derma pocket and got splattered. Allie takes a sample to find out what it is.
At Molly’s place, Josh and Serena are looking around, there was struggle, she fought for her life. They hear a woman shouting outside, it is her mother and she says Molly was on strong meds, she was allergic to a lot, she also suffered mental health afflictions. A few months ago everything changed, she refused her mother’s help. Josh says they believe she was being blackmailed.
In the lab, Josh and Allie are doing tests. The poison that killed Molly, they can’t identify.
All the teams cell phones start to ring, it is Ron Winter, he is call them. He introduces himself. Allie tells him that the man that was blackmailing him is in jail, his game is over.
Ron says he can get to anyone, anywhere. He tells them to listen, so they don’t get hurt. Sit back and relax, let him lighten their workload. He hangs up.
The team is wondering how Ron got all their phone numbers. Just then, Ron’s father shows up at the station to help but he can’t do anything really. He says they really only talk over text and half the time he needs a dictionary to figure out what he says. Maxine keeps the cell phone. Jack shows up, he tells Allie that Sonya is not doing well. She has a positive guaiac test, Allie says the poison is probably Abrin. Jack is riddled with guilt, he was on a date that night and didn’t do the autopsy with Sonya.
Daniel gives Maxine keys to a place where they can go an d be safe. He tells her that he has changed, he is sorry. She tells him that he does not owe her anything. He wants to protect the people he cares about, and tells her that she never left the top of the list.
In Ron’s place Penny finds some different writing and it looks like math. There is a burnt mess and it looks like accelerant.
Catherine and Maxine are out of the prison when they see some commotion, an ambulance is rushing someone out on a stretcher, it is Ted, he doesn’t make it.
Allie and Jack have Ted’s body in the morgue, they are trying to find out what he died of. Both he and Sonya swallowed the poison.
Ron picks up his dry-cleaning, the man at the counter says they couldn’t take out a stain and Ron doesn’t look very impressed. Ron has a box of cupcakes, he says they belong to his niece and he give the man one.
Allie had a mathematician go over the math notes, he has no idea what they are. Ron calls Allie, Penny tries to trace the call. He asks about Ted and she says he is very dead. She asks him to meet in person. He says they are both afflicted, plagued. He tells her that tonight it will be lights out, then he hangs up.
Maxine finds some information about Ron, his interest in Thallium and she thinks he is going areolize 300 people at Mountain Vista Psychiatric hospital. The team heads right over, Maxine thinks Ron is going to put the poison in a vent shaft.
They were right, Ron is in the hospital and is disguised as a doctor, puts a mask on so he won’t be recognized and Catherine Josh and Allie walk right past him. But, Catherine turns around, and she does recognize him, they get on a foot chase to a stairwell and Josh jumps him. Ron says they are too late. Maxine in is the basement with Beau, they find it and there is less than a minute. Beau grabs it and puts in a plastic bag, closes it tightly, it is contained.
Ron says he was killing the people in the facility because they are mentally malformed.
