In tonight’s CSI:Vegas episode, it was Las Vegas! There was a party every night. Only this latest party was different. It was a masquerade party that was supposed to be raising money for a new casino, but someone decided to bomb the guests. The very wealthy guests. There was a lot of interest in the case and the first question everyone asked was why?
Why bomb the casino? It was Las Vegas and there were a bunch of casinos already in place. Why did this one offend people to the point of planting a bomb? It turns out the casino was going to displace a tortoise habitat. There were a bunch of environmentalists who thought the casino should be moved elsewhere.
But it couldn’t be moved. The owner had to throw a party there every couple of months or risk losing his gambling license and he filled the party with investors because he needed money. He couldn’t build without additional funds. There was a chance that the casino might never get built.
The environmentalists didn’t need to bomb a place to stop it. They were doing well enough by protesting the site. They were scaring off investors that way and so peaceful resistance was working. Whoever bombed the party either must have had a different reasoning or they were using the protest to let out their sociopathic tendencies.
The last theory seemed to be panning out after a second bomb went off near the site. The second bomb knocked Josh off his feet. He needed to get medical treatment and so he rode in an ambulance to the hospital. All that he asked was for them to keep working the scene.
They couldn’t do that right away because they weren’t sure if there were more bombs. Maxine nearly came to blows with bomb squad. She demanded that they triple check the scene. She also said that once they were done that one of them was going to walk the scene with her. Just to make sure it really was safe out there.
Maxine wasn’t kidding about that. She did force a member of Bomb Squad to walk the scene with her until finally it was clear to bring in her people. They collected every bit of evidence they could.
They made sure the victims got treated and most of the people at the party were hoping the casino would go up. All except one. There was a young woman who was a protestor. She broke into the party and she admitted she planned a disruption. It just wasn’t this bombing. Or so she was claiming and so LVPD had to officially interview her.
Beau in the meantime piece together what happened at the crime scene. He said there wasn’t a second bomb. The first bomb released unintentional shrapnel that eventually cut into a propane tank. The propane tank then released into the air and it was ignited by the first spark. Right about the time Josh was close to it. The bomber as in the actual bomber had never planned on hurting a bunch of people. They released a small bomb inside of the tent probably in hopes of scaring off the investors. They also wanted to target one person in particular.
They hadn’t wanted to hurt anyone else or otherwise they would have filled the bomb with shrapnel. The bomb was placed directly under the crap’s table. It was a well-known fact that Bart Flynn always works behind the scene at that table and so someone purposely set out to murder him. It was Bart’s casino. There would be no casino without him. The only person that seems to miss him was his daughter Haley. Haley was so distraught when she came down to the scene to ask about her dad and she broke down in tears once she was informed of his death.
But Haley also lied to police. Haley said she wasn’t at the party because she was too busy. She said she didn’t see anything and she was never there. She said that right up until they found evidence at the scene. Then she claimed that she helped set up the gaming tables. She tried to claim she misspoke earlier and that she hadn’t truly been there.
She simply forgot something with all the stress. Catherine pretended to be listening to her. She even reached out a hand in sympathy and really she just wanted to take a photo of Haley’s hand. The one missing the nail. The same nail they found in all the chaos of the bombing scene.
Haley figured out what Catherine was doing. She told her that she will get her lawyer involved and then she stormed off. Only the evidence against Haley was staking. She was at the party when it was in full swing.
There was an eyewitness who put her there. The witness also claimed that Haley had been a black mask that only the help was supposed to wear and that she saw Haley ditch the mask at the party before sneaking away. CSI collected everything they found at the scene. They have several masks. They tested them all looking for the one Haley used.
They eventually found it. They used their evidence to officially question Haley. She admitted she let in the protestor to disrupt the party and she left at that. She’s claiming she didn’t know that Rhonda wanted to bomb the place, but Rhonda didn’t set the bomb. There was a key piece of evidence that putting to a different motive than ecoterrorism. The person responsible was the casino owner that ran his place right next to Bart’s site.
And now an old man will die in prison because he didn’t have the guts to go toe to toe with the competition.
Josh also skipped the hospital because he heard Trey was in trouble, but he had to get Trey arrested because he was a drug dealer that accidentally killed a client with his drugs.
