In tonight’s CSI: Vegas episode, a local weather man is told by his boss to stop digging into an investigative story. He is poking the bear, he tells him. Meanwhile, Josh meets a man to get a secret file. Catherine asks Maxine who she plans to promote to day supervisor as she knows Josh and Allie are neck and neck.
The team is called to investigate a crime scene. A weather man has been found dead in a factory on a conveyer belt filled with peanuts. The belts turn on and the crime scene disappears. Maxine is angry and makes sure to tell the plant super.
The victim is found to have an allergy to nuts. He also may have been shot before being brought to the nut plant. Maxine finds some residue on his forehead. Allie finds Josh to tell him she doesn’t want it to be weird between them since they both want the promotion. Meanwhile, the rest of the team interviews Ned, the weather man’s, co-workers. They learn Ned was investigating the nut plant owner.
The team cannot stop gossiping about Josh and Allie trying to nail down thee daytime supervisor job. Catherine believes Ned may have been murdered by someone at the station. They check his make-up and find peanut residue as well as a fake eyelash and fingerprints on his bottles. They discover his weather co worker Autumn is to blame.
Autumn was working during Ned’s death. The team is back to square one. Josh is having relations issues however when she find out he has been looking into some family issues.
The team visits the home of Tawny, an anchor who works with Ned. She seems to have a motive and a lot of fire arms. The husband won’t let them in. They see a fountain on the property. Allie sees a weird substance and some hair. Maybe Ned was killed here. Back at headquarters, the guys find the shell casing they needed in a pile of peanuts brought from the factory.
Allie and Josh do some additional digging and find one of the anchors are up on the electrical panel circuit at the nut factory. The team plays Tawny and Autumn against one another. They get Autumn to confess it all. Ned was harassing the nut plant owner who shot Ned. Autumn then helped with thee body, making her an accessory. She is placed under arrest.
Maxine breaks the news to Allie that she has been given the promotion of day shift supervisor. She thought Josh was going to get it. She is so happy she has been given thee chance but she is upset Josh isn’t going to get it. Meanwhile, Josh watches his mom secretly from a dark car in the parking lot. He calls her and she doesn’t answer.
