On tonight’s #DWTS episode it’s Latin night! The cast and crew had to dance only Latin dances tonight. Latin dances are sexy! They’re also daring. They even came with a lot of risk. The cast for this season of “Dancing With the Stars” had to give it their all and some rose to the occasions while others fell into the bottom.
Lele Pons was up first. She was dancing with Brandon. They did well last week. Lele was feeling confident going into this week. She wasn’t afraid at all of doing the Samba. She comes from a dancing family and Brandon got to meet them before tonight’s episode.
Lele chose a song that she loves dearly. It was a Spanish song. She’s danced to it several times before and has gone viral for those performances. She was hoping to continue the trend tonight. She had rocket energy. Bruno said she was the life and soul of the party. He loved her energy. He just thinks she needs to polish the details. Something that was uttered by the other two judges after tonight. They had all thought Lele was too wild. She needs to learn to control her movements. And she can work on that as long as America voted for her by the end of the episode.
Lele won a seven from each of the judges that resulted in a twenty-one score tonight. Her performance was followed by Tyson Beckford. Tyson was a gorgeous man. He was truly beautiful. Like Lele, he also has Latin blood. Only he needed to do better tonight than last week. His last performance was dismal. He ended up in the bottom three and barely survived elimination. He was hoping to make his comeback tonight with the Salsa. He got quicker on his feet. He rehearsed. He did everything he could to improve and tonight did in fact show that.
Tyson even won praise from the judges. Derek told him that part of being a great dancer was being a great partner. He did that with Jenna and it wasn’t just Derek to mention it. Tyson was slowly improving as time went on. He won a six from all the judges. He got an eighteen out of thirty and that was definitely an upgrade over the twelve he got last week. Next up was Barry Williams. His hair was back to a more natural grey. And he was back to having fun with Peta on the dance floor.
Now onto the bad news. Barry seems to have gotten worse since the last performance. His Cha Cha tonight felt stiff. It was way too wooden for a Latin dance. He won fives from all the judges. He was down to a fifteen and was in fear of going home. Carrie Ann said tonight wasn’t his night. She got booed for saying what she felt only the other two judges agreed with her. They all gave Barry a five. He won fifteen out of thirty points. It was worse than last week. He was in danger of going home after tonight’s performance.
Adrian Peterson was next. The judges hadn’t liked his scowl last time. They thought his game face didn’t go with the dance and so he worked on that in rehearsals. He did his best to juggle dancing as well as being there for his family. He was a great dad. He was just a terrible dancer. Something that became very clear after his Samba tonight. Not even his partner Britt could save him. He hadn’t improved since the last time. He looked wooden. Derek had to take him to task for it. The other judges were at least kinder to him than Derek was.
The others felt that there was room for hope with Adrian. He showed tonight that he could remove some of his NFL training with a smile. He just has to keep working on that. The judges all gave him a five. He got a fifteen. It was his lowest score so far. His performance was followed by Mira Sorvino. Mira has always dreamed of being a dancer. She didn’t have all that great of a score last week only she still had faith. She went into her performance of Salsa with Gleb with the best of intentions. She was good when she trusted herself.
She was great when she trusted her partner. But there was a sadness to her tonight. It made her make several mistakes. Mira was remembering a loved one that she recently lost and she wasn’t herself. She was still sad. It’s okay if her heart wasn’t fully committed. She still got a good score. She won sixes from all three judges. She had eighteen points in all and she was tied in first place at that time in the competition. Next up was Xochitl Gomez. This young woman was just learning to dance. She was coming off TikTok and was having to unlearn those thirty seconds moves.
Some thought she would be great at a Latin dance with a name like Xochitl Gomez only she knew nothing about the Salsa. Val had to teach her everything there was to know. He also went for big moves and she had to learn to get over her fear of heights. Out of everyone to that point, Xochitl did the best in selling it. She truly bought into the Salsa. She got the hand movements right. The face card will never decline. She was just fun to watch. The judges thought the same because they all spoke in favor of her.
The judges pushed Xochitl to the top when they each gave her a score of eight. Her full score being twenty-four out of thirty. She was the one to beat after that. Next up was Ariana Madix. She was ready to move on from the drama. She was back to having fun. She just had too much fun with Pasha in her Samba tonight. She went wild on the dance floor. She was like in Lele in that sense. She lost some of the finer points in all that dancing.
The judges noticed that mistake. They all took her to task for it in some way or another. They reminded her that she has to remember the finer points and footwork. Carrie Ann went a step above the others. She gave Ariana a lower score than the other two. Derek and Bruno gave her sevens. Carrie Ann gave her a six. She was left with seventeen points and that was one point lower than last week. It wasn’t too drastic. Ariana knew she could work with that and so she wasn’t disappointed by her score tonight.
Next up was Mauricio Umansky. He grew up in Mexico City. He wanted to show off his Latin heritage by doing a more traditional form of Salsa. His good friend and dancing partner agreed with him. Emma took him to a Latin club this past weekend. They had fun there. They had fun in rehearsals. They nailed a tricky move there and they just couldn’t nail it during their live performance. Then it was all downhill from there. Mauricio was off his game. He never recovered it and the judges were left disappointed in him.
They knew he was capable of more. Tonight just wasn’t his night. He got his worst score to date when they all gave him fours. What was he supposed to do with twelve points? He might as well go home. Next up was Alyson Hannigan. Alyson was left with dismal scores last week. She needed to improve. She needed to show some sexiness as well because tonight she danced the Tango. Her partner Sasha helped bring out her fierce side. This was a complete opposite of her previous performance.
Alyson’s Tango was truly beautiful. She delivered in fierceness. The judges rewarded that when two of them gave her sixes and one gave her a seven. She got nineteen points in all. It was much better than last week’s numbers. Charity Lawson was up next. Her partner had tested positive for covid. She got a new partner tonight and adjusting to Ezra was challenging. She tried to adapt. She just lost some of the sexual tension with her partner. They were supposed to perform the Cha Cha tonight. It wasn’t great because again they lost that connection. And it didn’t matter that Charity got all the footwork right.
The dance didn’t sell itself. She wasn’t relaxed. It came across as stiff. The judges all mentioned the lack of connection to the partner and that’s why they gave her sevens. She got twenty-four out of thirty points. It was still good. Everyone simply knew it will be better if she has Artem back. Up next was Harry Jowsey. He was coming from the bottom after last week. He needed to show marked improvement. And thought that can happen with his Salsa dance tonight.
Harry struggled during rehearsals. He constantly worries about how it looks or if his feet are in the right position. He tried to put all of that into his Salsa. And the judges noticed an improvement. They gave him and Rylee a score of fifteen by giving them all fives. This was higher than last week. Although that same score wasn’t good enough for Jamie Lynn Spears. She went next. Jamie got fifteen last week and she didn’t want it again. She wanted to impress the judges with improvement. She put everything she had into the Cha Cha with Alan.
Jamie practiced all the time. She tried to channel some of the sexiest women she knows. She improved tonight by one point. Her Cha Cha was fun. The footwork needed real work. One judge gave her a six while the other two gave her a five. She got sixteen points. Which wasn’t so bad. Jamie was aiming for something higher and so tonight was a bit of a disappointment for her while still an improvement. Next up was Jason Mraz. They were at the top last week. They wanted to continue their rise and tonight’s Rumba received the most praise.
Jason and his partner Daniella even received a standing ovation after tonight’s performance. They were back at the top with twenty-four points because all three judges gave them eights. Jason had been worried about looking silly. He instead looked sexy. The Rumba brings out the best in everyone. And that was it for the performances.
The bottom three after voting and judges’ scores was Mauricio, Jamie Lynn, and Adrian.
And the dancing pair going home tonight was Jamie Lynn and Alan.
THE END!
