Days of Our Lives Recap: Friday, June 23 – Eli Uncovers Whitley Clue – Jerry Slips Up with Abe – Trask Has a Heart

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Friday, June 23, reveals that Theo Carver (Cameron Johnson) caught up with Kate Roberts Brady (Lauren Koslow) at the pub, but he took off in a hurry after getting a text.

At Whitley King’s (Kim Coles) apartment, she served Abe Carver (James Reynolds) oatmeal and surprised him with the news that his son was back in town. Whitley insisted she’d just texted Theo and that he was on his way over.

When “Theo” arrived, it was actually a young man named Jerry Prentiss (Terrell Ransom Jr.). Jerry was an actor who knew Whitley, so she had paid him beforehand to pose as Abe’s son.

“Theo” greeted “Pops” and got mixed up about where he was supposed to be living since he said he flew in from South America.

Whitley reminded “Theo” that it was South Africa, so “Theo” said he got confused because of the layover in Brazil.

When Abe pointed out that Brazil wasn’t on the way at all and must’ve added a whole day to the trip, “Theo” acted like he got cheap flights.

Since things weren’t going very well, Jerry got Whitley to step into the hall with him. That led to Jerry lashing out at Whitley since she didn’t tell him that he’d be duping the mayor.

Jerry felt that Abe was a good guy who needed real help, but Whitley said Jerry owed her for doctoring his grandma’s forms so her medical care would be free.

Whitley also paid Jerry good money for this job and felt that his acting career would take a hit if the truth came out. Jerry agreed to stick to his role, but he wasn’t happy about it.

At the Salem PD on Friday’s Days episode, Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) caught Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu) and Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) holding hands after a long night of going over the evidence again.

After Eli officially met Jada, Rafe ordered her to go home and get some rest. Once Jada was gone, Eli pointed out that something was clearly going on between Rafe and Jada.

Although Rafe admitted they were attracted to each other, he argued that nothing could happen since he was Jada’s boss and the new regulations prevented them from dating.

At the pub on Friday’s DOOL show, Jada was thrilled to see Kate back in Salem alive.

Kate mentioned reading about Jada’s kiss with Rafe in Lady Whistleblower’s column, so Jada explained that it only happened because of the drugged biscuits.

Once Jada explained the rule that prevented them from being romantically involved, Kate pushed her to go for it anyway.

Life was short, so Kate felt that whatever Jada and Rafe did behind closed doors was their own business.

In Melinda Trask’s (Tina Huang) office, she refused to consider leniency when it came to Talia Hunter’s (Aketra Sevillian) case, but Belle Brady (Martha Madison) handed over some paperwork that would change everything.

It turns out to be a signed affidavit from Dr. Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall), who was treating Talia and believed she was a victim of Colin Bedford’s (Jasper Newman) emotional abuse.

This struck a chord with Trask, whose ex-husband was controlling and manipulative, too.

Trask ultimately decided that she’d recommend community service, probation and continued therapy so that what happened to Talia wouldn’t happen again.

Belle wanted to tell Jada the good news at the police station, but she’d already gone home. Rafe decided he’d go give Jada updates instead, so he knocked on her door and was surprised to see her wearing only a towel.

Back with Talia, she met up with Belle again and expressed her gratitude. Talia wondered if she should call Jada to fill her in, but Belle mentioned that Rafe was going to tell her about Trask’s decision.

Next on Friday’s Days episode, Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) got the green light from the health department to reopen Sweet Bits, but she had a case of bad déjà vu while posting a job opening.

That dredged up everything that happened with Talia – though Chanel and Paulina Price (Jackée Harry) weren’t as harsh about her situation once they acknowledged the abuse she endured.

Since Paulina and Chanel were also abuse victims, they seemed to find some common ground with Talia.

The text that the real Theo received turned out to be from Chanel, who summoned him on Olivia Price’s (Marla Gibbs) behalf.

Olivia refused to leave for Florida without seeing Theo one more time, so he made sure she got in a taxi since she wouldn’t let him drive her to the airport.

In the corridor outside her apartment, Whitley took a call from Eli and insisted she couldn’t come down to the Salem PD right now. After Whitley said her cat was sick, Eli offered to come to her place instead.

Whitley said that wasn’t necessary and agreed to get someone to watch her cat, so she gave Jerry an extra $100 to sit and talk with Abe while she was gone.

Once “Theo” returned to Abe, he made excuses and tried to talk to “Pops” about sports, but Abe got a headache and thought he should rest.

When “Theo” asked if Abe had a cane to use, Abe flashed back to the real Theo teasing him about his cane before his wedding. That left Abe looking suspicious of Jerry and the possibility that he was an imposter.

After Whitley made it to the Salem PD, she met the real Theo and learned Eli was Abe’s son-in-law as well as a family friend.

Whitley kept twisting her hands nervously – and Days fans could see that she was still wearing the ring from the vow renewal.

Eli grilled Whitley about why she left work hours early in the middle of her shift. Whitley claimed she was sick, but Eli wasn’t pleased over her leaving things out of her statement and wanted the whole truth.

Once Eli stepped away on a phone call, Whitley seemed to feel backed into a corner and decided Abe had to face a fatal outcome!
