Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Monday, July 24, reveals that Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) visited Theo Carver’s (Cameron Johnson) hotel room and learned Lani Grant (Sal Stowers) was missing, so Theo urged Chad to distract him with some good news.
Chad offered updates on the apartment he’d moved into with Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein), which was going great until Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) moved in across the hall and made himself a pest.
Although Chad claimed he wasn’t threatened by Alex and added that Stephanie had made her choice, he wasn’t sure Alex was ever going to get the message.
At home, Stephanie opened the door to Alex, who brought back the robe he borrowed and said he’d had it dry-cleaned. After Stephanie admitted she was just sitting down to work, Alex came barging in anyway.
Once Alex offered to brainstorm ideas with Stephanie and kept ignoring all her cues to leave, she finally asked if he was genuinely unaware of how obnoxious he was being or if he was trying to be a jerk.
Stephanie ran down the list of all the ways Alex had ignored boundaries, so he insisted he thought he was being neighborly.
Now that Stephanie was pointing out the problem, Alex saw where he went wrong.
Alex realized that maybe he was trying to keep Chad and Stephanie from having the happy life together that he once wanted with her.
Stephanie warned Alex to cut it out or they couldn’t be friends, so he heard her message loud and clear.
Although Alex didn’t think he’d ever have what Stephanie and Chad had, Stephanie insisted he was a catch and that the right person was still out there for him.
Alex was mostly just grateful he didn’t ruin his friendship with Stephanie, who reassured him before initiating a hug.
Down by the docks on Monday’s Days episode, Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) found Lani’s faint pulse, but she was unresponsive.
There was a syringe nearby, so Sam Gerard from the United States Marshals Office thought maybe Lani had overdosed from drug use.
However, Rafe shut down that idea and clearly suspected foul play. Lani came to briefly and mumbled about “Daddy” before Rafe and Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu) made sure she got to the hospital.
In Marlena Evans’ (Deidre Hall) office, she took a phone call from John Black (Drake Hogestyn) and heard that Abe Carver (James Reynolds) was alive in Whitley King’s (Kim Coles) apartment.
After Marlena gave Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) the scoop, Kayla rushed off to deal with a patient.
That patient turned out to be Lani, who needed an antidote to counteract the heavy sedative she was given.
Once Kayla caught up with Rafe and Jada, she let them know about Abe’s survival and the fact that he was likely still in Whitley’s apartment right now.
Theo heard that Lani was found over the phone, so Chad drove him to the hospital soon after. Once Chad made it back home, he caught Alex with his arms around Stephanie and flipped out.
Chad manhandled Alex a bit and warned him to get off Stephanie, but she explained that she initiated the hug after a discussion about boundaries.
Alex seemed annoyed, but he told Chad and Stephanie that he was rooting for the two of them.
After Alex left, Chad admitted to Stephanie that he overreacted – and she replied that he sure did!
In Lani’s hospital room, Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) showed up with Paulina Price (Jackee Harry), so that led to Lani groggily trying to tell them about Abe being alive. Kayla popped back up to confirm the news, so Paulina was a mess of emotions.
At Whitley’s place, she pulled out the faulty space heater that had taken the lives of her husband and their three cats through carbon monoxide poisoning.
It became clear that Whitley wanted a do-over where her husband wouldn’t be alone, so she gave Abe three stuffed cats and wanted to nap with him while the space heater ran.
Marlena showed up and realized what was going on, so she tried to make Whitley see that they needed to get out of there.
Once Rafe and Jada arrived, Whitley threatened to flick on a lighter and blow up the apartment with all of them inside.
Marlena kept trying to convince Whitley to put down the lighter, but she finally listened after Abe reached out and touched her hand.
Once Jada called in what happened and hinted about mental health services being needed, she told Whitley that they’d get her some help. Jada still had to make the arrest, so she read Whitley her rights.
After Abe was wheeled in the hospital, an overjoyed Paulina rushed to his side along with an equally thrilled Theo.
Drugged and amnesiac Abe remained confused over what was going on, but Theo and Paulina enjoyed their reunion.
Days of Our Lives spoilers say Abe’s memories will be slow to return, but his loved ones will be there with him every step of the way.
