Days of Our Lives Recap: Thursday, August 17 – Mayor Paulina Price – Shawn’s Arrest Dilemma – Belle’s Brilliant Plan

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Thursday, August 17, reveals that Clint Rawlings (Grayson Berry) stopped by Shawn Brady’s (Brandon Beemer) office and pushed the new police commissioner to arrest Paulina Price (Jackée Harry),

When Shawn questioned why on Thursday’s Days episode, Clint said it was for assault and showed Shawn a video of Paulina poking him hard at the press conference.

The acting mayor even had a medical report that mentioned his bruise, but Shawn suggested this was a waste of resources and wanted to help actual victims.

After Clint refused to take no for an answer, he warned that Shawn would have Paulina in handcuffs by the end of the day if he wanted to keep his job.

Meanwhile, Belle Black Brady (Martha Madison) paid Abe Carver (James Reynolds) a visit at his request and learned he needed help resuming his mayoral duties.

When Paulina showed up, she apologized for pushing Abe to return to work before he was ready and felt guilty since he’d done it to save Sweet Bits.

However, Abe argued that this was bigger than the bakery since Clint was such a rotten guy who was abusing his position of power.

Belle pointed out that Clint would likely continue to use the media against Abe, which could lead to him organizing a recall or just running against Abe in a couple months.

Fortunately, Belle ultimately came up with a plan that could hopefully get Clint out of power.

Back in Shawn’s office, he complained to Belle since working for Clint was going to be a problem.

Belle hinted that Shawn hopefully wouldn’t have to worry about that for much longer.

Next on Thursday’s DOOL show, Abe and Paulina summoned Clint, who assumed this was about recognizing that he belonged in the mayoral spot.

Instead, Abe announced that he planned to return to the role of mayor long enough to appoint his new successor.

Clint was stunned as Abe introduced him to appoint Mayor Paulina Price!

After Belle gave Shawn updates on her new Paulina plan, she got a phone call from John Black (Drake Hogestyn) and broke the bad news to Shawn about Victor Kiriakis’ (John Aniston) grim fate.

At The Spectator, Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) pushed Chloe to accept his marriage proposal, but she still needed more time.

Once Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth) called about Victor’s demise, Xander wrestled with some tough emotions.

It was hard knowing Victor passed away thinking Xander was the same degenerate thug as when he first came to town.

Xander recalled how he once craved Victor’s respect and tried to hurt him back when he didn’t get it.

Although Victor spared Xander’s life, he humiliated Xander by forcing him to work as the gardener.

Xander teared up since he loved Victor despite all the issues between them, so Chloe comforted him with a hug on Thursday’s Days episode.

When Chloe asked what she could do, Xander joked about her accepting his proposal, but he knew she’d be accepting for the wrong reasons if she said yes right now.

Xander just needed some time alone, so Chloe told him that she loved him on her way out.

Once Xander was on his own, he flashed back to a conversation where Victor called him a true Kiriakis and said he was proud of that.

The news about Victor’s demise also made it to Kate Roberts Brady (Lauren Koslow) and Roman Brady (Josh Taylor) at the pub.

Kate cried over her complicated relationship with Victor and flashed back to some romantic times with him.

Although Roman was the love of her life, Kate called Victor a kindred spirit and felt there would never be another Victor Kiriakis.

Roman felt that Kate needed to call Philip and tell him about Victor’s plane crash, but Kate said there was “no way in hell” she was doing that.

Since Philip was stronger, Kate feared her son would insist on joining his family to mourn the loss.

That was a problem since Philip could be arrested for faking his own grim fate and setting Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) up to take the fall.

Even if Philip could wiggle out of charges with a mental illness defense, Kate worried that Brady would go after him like he did Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) recently.

Roman argued that since Victor was a high-profile man involved in an international news story, Kate couldn’t keep him in the dark.

Kate disagreed since she had an arrangement with Philip’s mental facility to make sure he was insulated.

Nevertheless, Kate eventually pulled up Philip’s contact info and decided she needed to get in touch with him.

Just after Kate mentioned Philip’s name, Chloe appeared and seemed curious.

At the hospital on Thursday’s Days episode, Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) acted like Victor’s outcome wasn’t such a bad thing considering all the pain he’d caused in his lifetime.

Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) reminded Steve that Victor’s loved ones were grieving, so Steve assured her that he had compassion for them.

Steve recalled how Victor hired him to do his dirty work and how that led to the start of Steve’s love story with Kayla.

That was at least something Steve could be grateful for.

Days of Our Lives spoilers say Victor will continue to be remembered in Salem, so stay tuned for more flashbacks and memories.
