Days of Our Lives Recap: Tuesday, August 8 – Charlie Confusion, Police Commissioner Replacement and Bakery Shutdown

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Tuesday, August 8, reveals that Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) came home for lunch and realized Abe Carver (James Reynolds) was gone, so Paulina Price (Jackée Harry) explained that he moved out after she planted a kiss on him.

Chanel got updates on Abe moving in with Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) for now, but she was optimistic about Abe getting his memory back and wanting a future with Paulina again.

After Chanel mentioned running into Talia Hunter (Aketra Sevillian) and giving her a pep talk after Colin Bedford (Jasper Newman) berated her, she admitted to still feeling a connection with her.

However, Chanel’s conversation with Paulina was ultimately interrupted by a phone call from Chanel’s employee at the bakery.

There was an emergency, so Chanel rushed back to Sweet Bits to deal with a surprise shutdown.

At the Salem PD, Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer) was apologetic as he spoke to Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu) about accidentally getting Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gerring) fired.

It was Shawn’s first day back following his suspension, but he didn’t know who to talk to since a new police commissioner hadn’t been appointed yet.

Acting Mayor Rawlings came along and suggested Rafe had some nerve for suspending Shawn after he blew the whistle on him.

Shawn insisted Rafe caught him drinking on the job and that was why he got suspended instead.

Nevertheless, Clint felt that Shawn had learned his lesson and appointed him as Rafe’s replacement. Despite Shawn’s efforts to get Rafe reinstated or slide Jada into that role, Clint was adamant about Shawn taking over.

Shawn would no longer be employed if he didn’t take the promotion, so he reluctantly wound up sitting in Rafe’s chair later.

Afterward on Tuesday’s Days episode, Chanel and Paulina complained to Clint about Sweet Bits failing a new health inspection. It didn’t make sense considering Chanel had been careful to follow every rule.

Acting Mayor Rawlings pointed out that every business had to display a special sticker, but Chanel didn’t have one.

Chanel protested since they were out and told her they’d have to bring one later, but Clint didn’t care and felt that she’d broken the rules.

That meant Clint was sticking to his decision to shut Sweet Bits down.

Once Talia wrapped up her community service for the day, she was ready for a shower to wash the smell of garbage off her. Before Talia could enter the bathroom, Rafe came out wearing a robe and startled her.

After Rafe put some clothes on, Talia admitted she’d appreciate a heads-up when he was going to be there. Rafe understood that and defended Shawn when Talia tried to blame him for the former police commissioner’s firing.

Talk eventually turned to Talia’s pleasant evening with Chanel recently, so Rafe thought they were on the road to becoming friends again.

Talia seemed disappointed at Rafe’s use of the word “friends,” so he realized maybe she was hoping for more.

Although Talia hadn’t been into girls before, she felt something for Chanel. It started out as an act that Colin forced Talia into, but it became something more and left Chanel confused about everything.

Talia decided maybe she should talk about all this and therapy before heading to the hospital on Tuesday’s Days episode.

Once Talia was gone, Jada headed home to tell Rafe in person about the shocking Shawn-related developments at the Salem PD.

At Bayview on Tuesday’s DOOL show, Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) checked in with Harris Michaels (Steve Burton) to make sure he was settling in OK.

Suddenly, Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) appeared and lashed out at Harris for dragging her back into her old life.

Ava refused to believe his name was Harris Michaels and kept ranting, so Harris asked who she thought he was.

That led to Ava accusing Harris of being her son, Charlie Dale (Mike Manning).

An orderly sedated Ava as her meltdown got out of hand, so she passed out while another orderly was summoned to bring her a wheelchair and take her back to her room.

Marlena asked if Harris was all right, so he confirmed that he was and found out Ava had been dealing with Charlie hallucinations. Harris seemed weirded out over the way Ava looked at him like she truly knew him.

After Marlena left, she met with Talia for her therapy session. Talia admitted she wanted to talk about her feelings for Chanel and prepared to spill.

Back at Bayview on Tuesday’s Days episode, Harris sat alone at a table when Ava came up behind him. Ava glared at Harris once he turned around and looked ready to speak with him.

Over with Abe, he was watching Body and Soul when Kayla came home with takeout. Abe confused Kayla with Kassandra on the TV show and admitted things were all jumbled.

Kayla understood since so many faces and names were being thrown at Abe right now.

To help Abe keep things straight, Kayla showed him some special cards that she had made of all his loved ones’ pictures. That way, Abe could practice putting names to faces.

Abe was grateful, but he still worried about the drugs Whitley King (Raven Bowens) had given him possibly having long-term effects.

Kayla wasn’t concerned based on Abe’s bloodwork, so she offered reassurance.

Abe hated that he’d hurt Paulina by moving out, but he thought it’d hurt her more to stay and not remember when she prompted him to.

Kayla reassured Abe once again and remained hopeful about what the future held.

Days of Our Lives spoilers say Abe will have to deal with more curveballs soon, so stay tuned to see what other shocking news gets thrown his way.
