Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Tuesday, October 17, reveals that Talia Hunter (Aketra Sevillian) ran into Belle Brady (Martha Madison) outside the pub and found out Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer) left town to be near family as well as get the help he needed.
Since Belle was sticking around, she pushed Talia to just stay away from her.
Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu) found Talia crying right after the encounter and wanted to confront Belle for being cruel, but Talia told her to leave it alone.
After Jada suggested things would get better in time, Talia admitted she’d decided to return to California. Jada tried to talk Talia out of her decision, but Talia’s mind was made up.
At the Salem PD, Harris Michaels (Steve Burton) made a pitch to Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) for a job since he went to the police academy before he entered the military and had the necessary skills.
Rafe brought up how Harris kidnapped John Black (Drake Hogestyn) and Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols), but he was just giving Harris a hard time.
Although Rafe had to get approval from the mayor before it’d become official, he agreed to hire Harris and hinted about having a first case in mind for him.
Meanwhile, Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) spoke with Clyde Weston (James Read) over the phone and got instructions to come visit him at Statesville right away.
Once Ava told Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) that she had something to take care of, she took off in a hurry.
Next on Tuesday’s Days episode, Ava met with Clyde and demanded to know why he went after her son.
Clyde made it clear that it was just a warning, but Tripp was a goner if Ava didn’t do what he asked.
Clyde explained that he was all set on moving forward with a pharmaceutical empire, which he wanted EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) to run until Ava took away his leverage.
It was Clyde who made sure Susan Banks (Stacy Haiduk) was on ice with Edmund Crumb (Adam Caine) while he rounded up investors.
Once it was time to actually use Susan as leverage over EJ, Ava botched things by coming to Susan’s rescue.
However, Clyde pointed out that Ava had experience running the “Philly” mob, so he felt confident that she could take EJ’s place.
Ava insisted she was going straight and would get a legitimate job instead, so Clyde mentioned that he had connections at The Bistro and could get her a position there.
Ava’s loved ones would be none the wiser, but her main job would be working for Clyde.
Although Ava obviously didn’t want to run Clyde’s drug empire, she realized he’d end Tripp’s life if she didn’t cooperate.
Clyde felt this was the beginning of a profitable friendship and seemed pleased over backing Ava into a corner.
Back at Tripp’s place, he got updates from Wendy Shin (Victoria Grace) after her trip from the unemployment office.
Tripp suggested maybe Wendy could pound the pavement with Ava since she also needed a job.
Wendy also discovered Tripp’s arm injury when he pulled back in pain at one point, so she was upset over the guy attacking him and still being out there.
Although Wendy feared the man could come back, Tripp acted like it was just some random junkie and wasn’t worried at all.
In the town square, Harris found Ava looking stressed, but she assured him that she was fine. Once Harris admitted Rafe hired him at the Salem PD, he mentioned that already had his first assignment.
Harris said that Rafe wanted him to find out who delivered Susan to Edmund, so Ava looked unsettled since she already knew the truth.
At the pub again on Tuesday’s DOOL show, Rafe joined Jada and Talia as they prepared to say goodbye. Talia had her suitcase and would be catching the last flight out tonight.
Jada shared a sweet moment with Talia, who cried and ultimately left for the airport. Rafe did his best to comfort Jada over Talia’s departure and suggested she might come back someday.
In the park on Tuesday’s Days episode, Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) reflected on how much he missed Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller) and wondered how Clyde lived with himself after what he did.
At the mansion later, EJ comforted Chad since he remembered it was Abigail’s birthday.
Chad tried to focus on the good news about Susan’s survival, but EJ acknowledged Chad’s pain and hated that Abigail didn’t get a chance to come home, too.
After EJ wished he’d taken out Clyde when he’d had the chance, Chad smiled a bit and admitted he didn’t mind hearing that.
EJ also said it was a shame that Belle and Shawn showed up before they could finish Clyde off.
After EJ added that would’ve been fun watching Clyde bleed out in the cemetery, Chad nodded in agreement.
Back at Statesville on Tuesday’s Days episode, Clyde chuckled to himself over his plans working out after all.
