Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Wednesday, August 30, reveals that Dimitri von Leuschner (Peter Porte) and Gwen von Leuschner (Emily O’Brien) returned from their honeymoon early, which led to them telling Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) about Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) crashing the party.
Kristen wondered why the lovebirds came home so soon, so Gwen argued that Kristen already knew since she summoned Dimitri for a meeting about the shareholders. Once Kristen covered, she spoke to Dimitri privately and taunted him about doing more than just stringing Leo along.
In the town square, Leo physically bumped into Sonny Kiriakis (Zach Tinker) and asked what he was doing back in Salem. Sonny reminded Leo that Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston) passed away, so Leo tried to offer sympathy.
However, Sonny was cold toward Leo and scoffed at the notion that they were friends. When Sonny tried to act like Leo was a narcissist, Leo pointed out that he’d found love with someone gorgeous and showed Sonny a picture of Dimitri’s torso.
Sonny was skeptical of Leo’s fairytale romance and remained angry with Leo, who realized this was about his role in helping Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) cover up the Bonnie Kiriakis (Judi Evans) kidnapper chaos.
Since Leo betrayed Sonny’s family, Sonny insisted that Leo betrayed him too and stomped off.
Afterward on Wednesday’s Days episode, Leo texted Dimitri to admit that he nearly came clean about their relationship during an earlier conversation.
However, Leo knew how important it was to keep things hush-hush and told Dimitri to stick to his motto of “fake it ‘til you make it.”
Dimitri found out from Kristen that Elliot Roth (Darren Richardson) was expecting to meet Gwen as part of his efforts to prove the marriage was legit.
That left Dimitri in panic mode as he nearly confessed to Gwen, but Leo’s text distracted him long enough to change his mind.
Next on Wednesday’s Days episode, Dimitri showed up in Leo’s hotel room and explained his dilemma, but he had a risky solution. Mr. Roth hadn’t met the real Gwen yet, so Dimitri felt he could have someone pose as his wife – and Gwen would be none the wiser.
As Dimitri and Leo mulled over who Dimitri could trust with this task, Leo eventually had a lightbulb moment and suggested he could do it!
In Mr. Roth’s suite, he was just sitting down to breakfast when Gabi arrived. Gabi got Mr. Roth to admit he wasn’t the headmaster of Martin Prep, so he ultimately filled her in on the codicil and how Dimitri’s marriage needed to be genuine to get his inheritance.
Back at the DiMera mansion, Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash) convinced Rachel Black (Finley Rose Slater) to let him finish Gabi’s game of 20 questions.
That led to more information for Stefan, who found out Dimitri was having sleepovers with someone he shouldn’t be having them with. Rachel confirmed that Kristen knew, but Gwen was in the dark.
Before Stefan could continue the game on Wednesday’s DOOL show, Kristen interrupted and sent Rachel into the kitchen for some cookies.
Once Gabi met up with Stefan in private, she announced that she knew the secret and explained what she learned about the codicil from Mr. Roth.
Stefan traded info with Gabi, who felt they just had to figure out who Dimitri was sleeping with – though Gabi assumed it was a “her.”
Downstairs on Wednesday’s Days episode, Gwen accidentally smashed a glass pitcher and got upset about it.
Kristen misunderstood the situation, so she assumed Gwen was upset because Dimitri told her everything. That left Gwen curious about what Kristen was talking about.
At home, Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein) was impressed over the romantic breakfast Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) made for her. Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) also showed up to ask if Stephanie could fly solo on their business meeting later since he just wasn’t up for it.
Although Chad had sympathy for Alex over Victor’s passing, he also urged Alex to work through his grief instead of isolating himself. Chad suggested Alex should go home to the Kiriakis mansion and make amends to Maggie Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers) since that’s what Victor would want.
Alex decided Chad was right, so he shook his hand and took off. Stephanie praised Chad for being a good man and enjoyed breakfast with him moments later.
Chad guessed it was a good thing he didn’t listen to Kristen, who warned him not to trust Alex with Stephanie no matter what. Stephanie suggested that the DiMeras weren’t happy unless they were stirring up drama.
At the Kiriakis mansion, Alex hugged Sonny as they reunited. Since Alex was waiting until after Maggie’s nap to talk to her, he enjoyed looking through some old Victor photos with Sonny.
