Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Wednesday, July 5, reveals that Theo Carver (Cameron Johnson) found Jerry Prentiss (Terrell Ransom Jr.) down by the docks and learned his name, so he thanked him for coming forward as the eyewitness to Abe Carver’s (James Reynolds) fall into the water.
Jerry said he felt guilty for not being able to help more, but Theo assured him that he was grateful and didn’t blame him for what happened.
At the Salem PD on Wednesday’s Days episode, Lani Price-Grant (Sal Stowers) went over the evidence with Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) and was surprised over Jerry being an actor.
After Lani mentioned Jerry being on a couple episodes of Body and Soul, she teased Eli about secretly being a fan of the show. However, Lani ultimately didn’t see why Jerry would lie about Abe’s fall and seemed to believe his account.
Next on Wednesday’s DOOL show, Lani caught up with Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) and met Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu) before Eli got some unfortunate updates.
Eli found out he was needed for an urgent case in Arizona, but he was hoping to make it back in time for Abe’s funeral.
Since Eli was supposed to be in charge of Lani during her furlough, Rafe offered to take over for him so that Lani could remain in Salem with her grieving family.
Until then, Eli still had some time before his flight and wanted to make the most of it with Lani.
On the pier near Abe’s shrine, Lani and Eli interrupted right as Jerry seemed like he might make a confession to Theo. Jerry backed out of it and just let them all know how sorry he was before rushing off.
Theo learned Eli had to fly out of town soon, so he once again pushed Eli and Lani to celebrate their anniversary since that’s what Abe would want.
Lani and Eli eventually took a moment to enjoy each other’s company in front of some Fourth of July fireworks, so they got lovey-dovey and looked forward to Lani’s freedom down the road.
At Paulina Price’s (Jackée Harry) place, Whitley King (Kim Coles) offered her condolences and reflected on how she voted for Abe in every election as well as volunteered on his campaign.
Whitley pointed out that before she ever met Abe, it felt like she knew him personally. Paulina was taken aback to learn Whitley was in the park the day she got married and watched the ceremony.
Before Whitley could leave, Paulina stopped her and asked if she remembered Abe’s last words to her at the hospital.
Whitley mentioned that Abe said Paulina’s name and must’ve remembered her on some level, so Paulina cried and was so grateful to her for sharing that. It left Whitley looking like she felt guilty, so she rushed off on Wednesday’s Days episode.
At Whitley’s apartment, Abe continued to reel over “Theo” aka Jerry being on Body and Soul. Once Abe looked at the credits and saw that his name was Jerry Prentiss instead of Theo Carver, he fumed over “Paulina” lying to him.
Abe decided he had to get out of there and wheeled toward the door, but Whitley’s return stopped him.
Abe confronted Whitley about “Theo” being on a soap opera and didn’t buy her story about Theo’s stage name.
In fact, Abe felt that something had been off from the beginning, so he was fed up with all the lies and tried to leave once again.
Whitley stopped Abe by jabbing a syringe in his neck, but she assured him that it was just a mild sedative. It became clear that Whitley never intended to let Abe go.
Once Theo met back up with Paulina and watched the fireworks on TV with her, she recalled how sad Abe was after Lani went to prison and Theo went back to South Africa. Paulina remembered looking over at Abe and seeing a tear stream down his cheek.
Back on Whitley’s sofa, drugged Abe seemed out of it as a tear once again streamed down.
In the town square on Wednesday’s Days episode, Talia Hunter (Aketra Sevillian) was picking up trash for her community service when she overheard Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) handling a work crisis over the phone.
Once she disconnected, Chanel mentioned hiring someone to replace Talia and gave her the news that Sweet Bits was opening back up tomorrow.
Talia felt terrible about her actions and what they set in motion for Abe, but Chanel suggested they all had to keep moving forward.
At the police station, Talia showed up to see her parole office and drop off documentation of her community service as well as her therapy sessions.
Jada assured Talia that she’d handle it and heard about her encounter with Chanel earlier.
Talia admitted she missed working at the bakery before confessing she missed Chanel, too. When Talia saw Chanel in the town square again, she handed over her apron for the new employee.
That led to a moment where Talia touched hands with Chanel and still seemed to have a spark with her. Fireworks went off nearby, so Chanel and Talia stood there awkwardly watching them together.
Rafe and Jada also enjoyed the fireworks in a discreet location, so they were able to do some cuddling despite the rule against their blooming love.
Days of Our Lives spoilers say some other romantic shakeups are still to come in Salem, so stay tuned.
